The Oxford Don
Dropping like flies! Whilst the starting XI is probably unaffected by any of the recent call-offs, the depth of the squad is going to be seriously tested. I fear for our chances if we have to start making substitutions... which, in 33 degree heat and near 100% humidity, is extremely likely. I was quietly confident about this campaign when the draw was made, but I now fear that we're going to get off to a bad start on Saturday and instantly find ourselves playing catch-up. BTW can anyone confirm if the game is a 2pm or 3pm start our time on Saturday? I've seen both listed. Thanks! Link to comment

As for call offs hopefully Burley will now inforce the 5 day rule as he promised he would do for those that call off for qualifiers. Lastly why is Barry Nic not been called up as playing well for Preston and no longer handicaped by being an Aberdeen player. Link to comment

I don't understand why three players have dropped out, but only one has been replaced? Or am I missing something? Link to comment
florin_raducioiu
Two being full backs and Broadfoot already called up unless I've missed anyone else dropping out in that position? Weir, maybe another centre half just in case. Gutted about the kick off time. Will miss the whole game. Link to comment

Won't make the pub for this one - I'm leaving Edinburgh at 6am on Saturday morning in a hired van to pick up two antique drums (seriously, don't ask!) from a house in Preston. I should be back in time for K.O. though obiously 3pm would give me more of a fighting chance than 2pm. Link to comment

Oh lord....Clangers and Broadfoot have got to be two of the worst "footballers" to ever get called up for the national team, no? I mean, are we that short of decent footballers that Langfield and that hammer-thrower from Rangers can play for Scotland? I see Burley is blaming the SPL for scheduling an Old Firm game immediately before an international fixture....frigg off! Such a competitive, meaningful fixture is probably the best way to prepare for such an important game as this Saturday's. Link to comment

Everytime i hear him speak or see him it just frustates me more what an arse of a man. Some of the drivel that comes out of his mouth really annoys me. Kirk Clubfoot what a farce i just hope to God he doesn't get a game. Clangers won't play ayway as Gordan and Mcgregor will get stripped. Link to comment

For a while now I have thought I listening to Craig "Negative b*stard" Brown everytime Burley spoke so not to surprised to see this week that Brown is on board as one of Burley's advisors. Browns neagative attitude (playing for draws away from home against any opposition) and refusal to blood young players over playing 38 year old has beens set Scotland back years and is the main reason we have not been at a major tournament in 10 years. We have only just got back to looking like potential qualifiers now and so very disappointed to find out he is back involved again and clearly having a big influnce on the decisions being made by both manager and the SFA. Quagmire
I have no enthusiasm at all for the future under Burley. The sooner we start a fresh and get rid of the Dailys, Weirs, Davidsons, Alexanders the better. Link to comment
King Street Loon
Said it before on a previous topic related to the national team. Burley is a cock and is destroying my interest in the national team. The man is a clown!! Link to comment
The Oxford Don
Let's all keep the heid dudes. Granted Burley's squads have been a bit uninspiring and the players he has drafted in as replacements are, ahem, 'poor', but we've not even started the campaign yet. His stated intention is to get the team attacking a bit more - let's see if that is the case and if he can muster a win in Macedonia. Saturday tea-time will be the first time when it is realistic and fair to judge Burley - we owe it to him to give it until then before making negative comment. As for Craig Brown's involvement, I have no problem with this if it is restricted to things like preparing dossiers on the opposition (he was always very good and thorough at this) as is apparently the case. If he is anywhere within a million miles of squad/team selection and tactics, however, then I will be monumentally pissed off. Link to comment

Sheep#1
Just skimmed this thread, so apologies if it's been brought up, but did anyone hear Burley's press conference yesterday, when speaking about calling up Clubfoot, he described him as a player of 'limited ability' Maybe he's no as daft as folk think then! Virgin Don
A few of my mates that are over got stranded in sofia while waiting for buses the company wanted extra 1000euros to take them through.
