thebladder
I thought Mercedes were stearing Di Resta's career though, so Mclaren or Mercedes GP more likely seats for him. I can't see Button or Hamilton leaving McLaren but if Shumacher retires (like he really should cause lets face it he is finished) we could see Di Resta at Merc GP next season. Link to comment

I think this is quite a likely scenario - he needs to show he is consistently faster than Sutil and can finish races reasonably frequently. Link to comment

s1dnk
F1 going to Sky in a couple of year with BBC retaining the rights to show only a handfull of races throughout the season. Absolute disaster if you ask me, no doubt it'll get more air time but who wants adverts in the middle of the race? Why don't they just give Sky every f**king sport to show? Link to comment
minijc
Badtimes, the BBC coverage is rather good and I've found myself getting more in to it now. Link to comment
Dandydon D
Im a massive MASSIVE F1 fan and this is the worst possible news. Absolutely disgusting. Apparently the teams are going nuts as Bernie Ecclestone didnt consult any of them over the deal. BBC gets a massive audience compared to what sky gets. Was only a matter of time before sky got there greasy mitts on F1. Absolute disaster. Link to comment
Dynamo
Thats a pity. The BBC have been doing a good job. Commentary is a lot better too since they binned the original boy and got Coulthard up there. Link to comment
Dandydon D
Its a huge kick in the balls for F1 fans.Ecclestone always on about having to do more for the fans blah blah blah then goes and signs a deal with sky. wtf ??? BBC has a massive following and SKY only has a fraction. will be interesting to see what this will do to viewing figures. Pathetic. Link to comment

Dandydon D
Interesting to see what it does to viewing figures which in turn effects sponsorship deals.I read somewhere that the teams are up in arms as they werent consulted on the deal. Effectively there sponsors pay the money to be shown to the widest possible audience which BBC provides. I cant stand sky sports and i cannot believe they have managed to bag F1. Still early to make too many comments on what has happened here. Its possible that the BBC instigated the share as they are looking to cut costs. It was rumoured whether they would be extending there F1 deal anyway. Still, f**k sky. BBC is the home of F1. Link to comment

I may well be talking pish - it had to happen some time. It seems the beeb didn't value F1 enough to spend what they had originally planned to on it and needed a sugar daddy to bail them out. s1dnk
If the BBC would rather spend their money giving us live action from the world swimming championships in China or some archery tournament from who knows where (all on the red button) then they are not spending the license fee money we all pay as it should be spent. They don't have a duty to show a deverse array of sports as they don't have the money to do that, they should be going with the majority and spend money on popular sports so at least a fair amount of us can enjoy the coverage we all pay for. Let satellite channels show these other sports, they have subscribers who will pay to watch these events through choice. Link to comment
s1dnk
Great win for JB today, he is supreme in those conditions. Hamilton looked to be cruising until he decided to put the super soft tyres on when most of the other front runners had switched to the harder compound. The real winner today, as always it seems, was Vettel, now 83 points ahead in the drivers championship. Link to comment

Cover a diverse range of things and if it is a value for money thing then F1 would probably be one of the first to go such is the huge costs involved in getting the rights compared to the viewing figures. V for Vendetta
Wont b at FI next season i dont think. I think he will get a better team maybe RB if MW dosen't sign new deal. Can't possibly see this happening next year. I think MW will stay on next season and beyond that RB are probably looking at Riccardo or however is up coming. Even if MW doesn't stay on I think its too soon for RB to gamble on Paul. Mercedes GP may be possible depending on whether MS stays on. They will certainly look to keep Rosberg anyway. McLaren are unlikely to change lie up unless something unexpected happens and Ferrari will prob keep Massa although you never really know for sure. I'd love Di Resta to get a drive at stronger team but there is a lot of talent out there and until experience like Barichello, Schumacher, Heinzfield, Webber and etc hang up the boots there are limited seats going to be available. Its just possible Di Resta will need to stay another year at FI. Link to comment

Crossbow
Well that's Vettel champion, given his youth and ability it'll be interesting to see how many he collects. I do hope that Maclaren and Ferrari raise their game next year, they haven't been able to match Reb Bull on any level; and sady Webber has very much become a number 2 driver (much like Massa). Di Resta needs to push hard at the end of this season though unless something opens up at Renault or Mercedes he's probably as well where he is. Link to comment
Crossbow
Formula One is now a complete joke especially qualifying. In what way compared to say three years ago - we have the dominance of one team/driver through this season certainly which reduces some of the drama - but other than that we've had some good races, Button has been good to watch as his car management has been very effective. Lewis has been a bit of a joke as he's tried to do more with the car (and indeed himself) than is possible. We've had a good Scottish rookie appear in di Resta. There has certainly been a significant learning curve with respect to tyres which have replaced fuel startegy as the team factor, overtaking has become easier (and that may need further tweaking as it may be too easy in some places). Qualifying has shown the dominance that Vettel currently has but he and Red Bull are not unbeatable. Whilst not a great season in terms of drama around the title and I will confess I thought it would be at seasons start it has confirmed that Vettel and Red Bull are one hell of a combination. E-P-K
Formula One has been dying for probably the last 3 years, this year being the biggest joke. Cars saying 'oh we'll settle for 10th place and not go through the qualifying to save fuel'. It's a joke of a sport now. I know many people who used to sit down on a Sunday and love watching it (myself included) - now, they've just changed too much and it's not worth watching. It doesn't have the appeal it once had, I know many people in this position. And I saw an 'unofficial viewing figures' and it was well down in the UK. Well officially the viewing figures for the UK is up this year compared to last with an average of 6.1 million per race. in fact this is the best viewing figures since 1998. Obviously the viewing figures will drop dramatically when SKY starts subscription only viewing. Link to comment
