Richard Foster

I don't see rangers forking out for him cause of there money problems and there's so many players you can get for free these days i don't see them wanting to pay any money for foster when they can possibly get better for free.

The problem is that foster doesn't want to come back, could he possible be loaned out to rangers again? What's the limit on loan signings to the same team, i'm thinking it's two seasons but could be wrong.

I'll support whatever decision brown and knox make cause you know it'll be what is best for afc

He isnt a defender , never has and never will be, I still think he could so a shift at RM

he won't want to be clicking his heels at pittodrie anyway after having tasted life at a big club. we also couldn't match the wages he'll no doubt now believe he's worth.

not a cat in hells chance he'll play for the dons again. just hope we don't let him go too cheaply.

he's got a year on his deal left so its not up to him, anyone that wants him permanently can cough up for him.

His deal is until 2013, so he's got 2 years left.

I can't see Rangers being able to afford him unless their takeover goes through and even then I think they would look at free transfers first as they will be looking to spend in other areas first, so I expect he will be back playing for us next season.

he's not, at all.

that interview he gave when we were really struggling was quite clever, but then apparently he's quite a clever guy so dont be fooled by it

he doesnt want to come back and i dont want him back

I have to agree with MT here, Foster has his uses and they are limited but he is not a good footballer.

Yup, you cant move for top class players round Pittodrie and Foster would struggle to get back into the team

who said anything about pittodrie being full of top class players, stop putting words in peoples mouths to win a debate.

I already Foster has uses but he is not a good footballer. If theres been a huge improvement in his game from playing at a higher level then fine by me.

Did he not get two important passes in both goals last night? That alone is an improvement on the whole of last season if you listen to some...

right now Foster would struggle to get back into the team.

Smith is far better at left back

McNamee is a more solid right back

So where you putting him :itch-chin:

Just because he's played a couple of games at a higher level that doesnt make him some world beater. Next you'll be claiming Clubfoot is the SPL's version of Alves

did he not classically misjudge a header to almost cost rangers in the first place?

My comment was tongue in cheek...

Firstly, we have no idea if either will be here next year. Hopefully they will (McNamee needs to prove fitness first though).

Secondly, Foster's versatility can make him an important player anywhere. To simplify it massively, why did Rangers not sign McNamee in the summer if he is a better player? He was available for free. Foster has only played on the right side for Rangers. Two main reasons, versatility and different types of qualities.

Nothing to say that all three couldn't form part of a decent squad next year.

Foster will never be a great footballer - but he has positive qualitites to make up for some of his weaknesses. As a utility player, on the right as a back-up we could have a lot worse. If we can't source a longer term right back he may well be effectively essential, undesirable though that might be.

He has gained some useful experience at the huns and has not said anything stupid. We've had huns here before, and as long as they put in a shift for AFC and don't let their personnal preferences affect their day job, their professionalism or the rest of the squad then I don't have a problem.

I suspect he'll be back because the huns are skint, but we'd sell him on cheap I'd suspect so we'll see if Sally wants to put in a punt - or maybe someone down sarf will want him because of his experience.

If he comes back and knuckles down then he's welcome in my book.

I'd sell him.

Maybe absence makes the heart grow fondr with a lot of you but if you think our defensive problems this season would have eased with Foster in there then you're crazy.

Having no fullbacks was THE problem in our team in first half of the season and absolutely no doubt at all Foster would have helped in that sense. Just don't see how it can be argued against.

However going forward with Foster next season is a completely different arguement altogether.

see!

now that you've let one through....more will make sense!

I think you need to turn this on it's head. You have had but one moment of clarity. I fear you will disappear once more into the abyss of craziness which surrounds "Frankieland"

Calling his son Mason was a dastardly piece of dastardliness however, for which I will always consider him a total fud

And he called his other kid Chelsea.

I am not against Foster now that he has become a hun, but for his general air of "i'm better than you" that got him in bother with two of our last managers. Ricky is full of sh*t and not nearly as good as Steven Smith OR David McNamee. he relies on his pace more than his football brain or ability.

If we can punt him then lets do it but I can't see us getting an offer of decent money. Might just be an opportunity to let him leave so we can use his wages to keep the afforementioned fullbacks we have right now, who are both quality and natural in their positions.

*trust him to set up the winner after my post, ironic that that setting up a goal in Europe for Rangers matches the only significant thing he did for the Dons too. Maybe it will increase his value

he shouldnt play for us again for saying we were the worst team in the league at a press conference a few months ago.....yes we know we are sh1t but for him to say it he can go feck himself! never want to see him in red again! ....and except for speed is a terrible terrible footballer!

  • 3 weeks later...

Don't think Foster says a lot wrong there although the journalist seems to want to stick knife into Aberdeen.

Totally agree, what he is saying is all true.................the journo is putting the spin on it to satisfy the blue knuckle draggers who lap up all this crap

What he says makes perfect sense. Whats he meant to say? damn, I wish I had been playing in that 9-0 drubbing instead of playing Champions League football...the idiot I am". If he had been disrespectful to us then fair enough, let the hounding begin (or continue..) but I can't for the life of me see what is wrong with what he said there.

As for bringing him back, he'd make a decent backup full back for us at the moment, but he wouldnt get straight into the squad barring injury!

He doesn't say anything particularly wrong, but never, in any of the interviews does he mention us in any sort of good light. For instance considering he gave an interview saying how we were the worst team in the league at that point, could he not mention in an interview he's pleased we have recovered from our horrendous start.

The one he gave a few weeks back talking about the huge number of fans Rangers have at their away ties in Europe, he could have mentioned he'd experienced it before, given we had larger numbers in Munich and Madrid, than any of the hun games he's played in.

I fully appreciate when you're at another team its normal to talk about them but its not unheard of to read of players on loan saying positive things about the club their contract is with, the only times he's mentioned us is to say we're sh*te or that he could have been preparing for a quarter final replay with St Mirren and instead hes playing in the Europa League.

Never liked him, always thought he was pish, and don't want him back, its clear he doesn't want to either, and thats fine with me, I'd bite any clubs hand off for a couple of hundred grand.

Can't agree with any of that. I wouldn't mind Foster coming back to us at all but he should learn to keep his trap shut about Aberdeen while he is there. Why reference the Celtic drubbing when he could have mentioned his time playing for Aberdeen in Europe? Its not a million miles away coming up against Bayern Munich, Copenhagen & Atletico Madrid to starring in a Rangers team thats philosophy is to kill games and scrape through ties by putting 10 men behind the ball. Also, they may not have been hit for nine but their last league performance at Celtic Park could be seen as a drubbing in Old Firm terms.

I hope the twats get knocked out tonight.
