Spl Split Chaos?

Recommended Posts

Posted this in semi final thread but thought thread of own:

See that Inverness v Celtic is still to be arranged and Inverness will have to play this game before the split as likely to be crucial in deciding who is in top 6. Now Celtic play this midweek and then this weekend. Next week they play St Johnstone on Tuesday then us on the Sunday, then play the Wednesday after just 3 days before post split fixtures start.

Surely the only feasible date for this game is next Thursday before the semi? United were made to play Monday, Thursday, Sunday a few weeks back so why should Celtic be any different? There are no other dates before split fixtures start.

Get feeling though that SPL will bend over backwards for them and somehow hope that the top 6 is sorted after this midweek and weekend games if Motherwell pick up points. (Can only think this is the case as game not been re-arranged even though just 2 weeks left of pre split season)

So i am hoping United beat Motherwell tomorrow at Fir Park and Hearts beat them at Tynecastle on Saturday with Inverness picking up something at Killie. Would throw SPL into complete farce and Celtic have to play next Thursday.

Another cock up in what must be the worst season ever for Scottish football.

You would hope this is our mea culpa moment in Scotland, where we wake up and address the many issues ruining our game, but the realist in me says it will get much, much worse before it gets better.

Let's hope Celtic get shat on though.

In fact i know what will happen. The Killie v Celtic game on the Wednesday after the final will be cancelled and Inverness v Celtic played in its place with Killie v Celtic happening after split since both in top 6 regardless.

Although Dundee United were guarenteed top 6 and Hamilton were in bottom 6 but the SPL still made United play 3 games in 6 days so shouldn't be any different just cause it is Celtic. And they made Rangers play 3 times in a week in the season they got to UEFA final. Made them play Monday and Thursday then the cup final on the Saturday.

beat me to it, anything to make it easier for Celtic of course.

as I read elsewhere, Utd played 5 games in 12 days, ask either of the weegie c**ts to do similar and its headline news and conspiracies galore

They'll probably push the split back a week?

I actually don't mind the concept of the split, but this sort of carry on is just another reason we should fill August with as many midweekers as possible.

I would like to think the other 11 clubs would tell SPL to f**k right off. Could cancel whole round of Saturday games and play then in a midweek but would imagine clubs would not be too happy about this. Also Sky and ESPN have slots in weekend of 23/24 for first round post split.

Having said that SPL have already moved a weekend game to midweek for one SPL club against Celtic NEXT season allowing Cetic to go play friendly in Ireland (should Celtic win league they would be home first game to raise flag then away in week 2 when "away")

I want that agme played a week on Thursday.

I couldn't give a fk who wins the league but this is the exact type of preparation we need celtic to have to assist us in pumping them. Infact the fkers should be made to play next friday night instead.

The only thing is, Celtic have enough depth to play two teams.

No games should be moved, ever, leave that to the likes of the EPL, they can reshuffle until they're blue in the face.

They all should be played at 3 o'clock Saturday, like before, and we might have a league worth watching again.

Whose idea is it to give us all these preposterous kick-off times, in the first place?

It's the brainchild of TV companies, in cahoots with Celtic and Rangers.

Time to tell them to get stuffed, they've ruined our league.

They have but would most definitely need to win in Inverness if want to win the league. Would think the Scottish Cup would come secondary to the league title for them.

yawn, you seen how hard the setanta collapse hit our league.

you trying to tell me we dont need tv money?

yeah, imagine the quality of player we would attract in that scenario, if you think now is bad

Concentrating on TV money, to the total exclusion of all other components of a successful league, has been our downfall and absolutely detrimental to our game.

As you are doing at the moment. It's got nothing to do with 'quality of player', it's 'quality of league' that needs considering.

The 'quality of player' argument is one spun again and again by the Glasgow clubs.

Give me competitive fitba in sellout stadiums any day, way before superstars earning wages which are an affront to ordinary supporters.

No, we don't need TV money.

surprise surprise

we dont need tv money?

if we dont get tv money, we become the league of ireland

so closedminded its unreal

we should hoor ourselves to anyone that'll bloody well take us

Ireland don't have a Huns or Tims.

Link to comment

aye, they sent them over to us!!

i dont think you really believe that. you'd rather have an even lower level of quality football to witness, just so you can do it at your convenience?

Would it be worse?

Could it be worse?

I could have a half day work, leave Friday lunchtime, and watch decent football in good weather followed by a leisurely drive home, mostly in daylight.

Instead, the setup is shambolic, to suit the whims of Glasgow.

Problem is not the split it self its the fact that so many ganmes have been cancelled

BUT before we get a summer football rant

How many cancellations are due to weather and how many are due to Cup games?

gamesa re being rescheduled because of clashes with cup matches - cup matches are going to include rangers and or celtic to the latter stages so they are going to have to reschedule games for no good reason excpet bad planning as well as due to unexpected bad weather

why are we in a position that close to the split we have cup games that are cancelling league games as both are due to be played at a weekend - the league cup for instance lead to 2 cancellations alone for the finalists - thats two matches to reschedule that could have been avoided.

Its only the league cup ffs but its affecting the league as a whole

Guys on ESPN just now saying the 10 team SPL vote has been cancelled.

Biggest non shock ever. Just can't see why St Mirren, St Johnstone, Inverness, Aberdeen, Hibs, Motherwell etc would vote for 3 to go down next season.

Aye they do, there is a massive hun bar in Belfast! I felt sick passing it. On the same journey I got to see the mural of Mr Chicken Supper as well!

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. (I hate bigging these two c**ts up but...) Ireland doesn't have teams of the same stature as Rangers or Celtic, or even Hearts for that matter.
