Stoney
I'm one of the old 'uns on here and have witnessed the good and the bad stretching back decades. The "team" may not deserve our support, but to my mind at a semifinal (especially v one of the OF) the "club" does. There are plently of threads regarding the players and management and I don't want to aid this thread decending the same way. All I'll say is that one objective the club should have (and we fans should expect) is a good cup run . . . . well we've reached two cup semifinals this year (acceptedly by the skin of our teeth) and (back on subject) I am very much up for it on Sunday. I applaud your past dedication and fully understand your current sentiments though. Well im a young un Got my first season ticket in 1997 with a lot of saved paper money and didnt miss a home game all the way through to 2008, went to my first away game with my mates (went a few times with my pops) in 99 and didnt miss another away until again 2008 - so maybe i can be forgiven for not attending as regular as i once did. Fair play to those showing optimism for the weekend - i just cant face that again. If it was saturday i probably would have gone just for the day out, im saving myself for hibs away and a potential head wetting. Link to comment
Slick
Interested to hear why exactly the "club" deserves the support if the team maybe doesn't? By "club" I was alluding more to the whole entity past and present . . . . in that irrespective of who is the manager or wearing a red shirt on the pitch I still support AFC the "club". It wasn't any kind of support for the board if that's maybe what you thought. And to be honest I'll be supporting the team on Sunday. My comment was in response to the statement that they didn't deserve support and was more "well maybe they do, maybe they don't but as a club in general I'm still supporting". Link to comment

You are of course referring to the intangible, not the custodians of Aberdeen Football Club. My enthusiasm has been ebbing away over the years to the extent that I think I could cut ties right now with the tangible club; that is, not bother going. However I shall always, always be "Aberdeen". Link to comment
vanderark14
I'm starting to look forward to it, probably because I'm dreaming of big Vern scoring the winner and sliding on his knee's right up to lennon and kissing the badge after scoring the winner. Link to comment

Nothing to forgive . . . the thread was about "excitement" and while I'm more "praying for a miracle" than excited, I'm up for this match and responded accordingly to the original post. I'd not question anyone's reasons for not attending - and you've valid points even if I did. Link to comment
tup
A wank will be the last thing on my mind if Aberdeen FC, a team of 11 men, make it to the Scottish cup final. Each to their own I suppose. Link to comment
tup
Anyways, wankings cool and it makes you look hard. Well if your mither took a quick snap of your cum face, in the vinegar stroke throes, the photographic evidence might suggest otherwise. Link to comment

Indeed - it's something we are stuck with, like it or not . . . . the tangible may feel like a bit of a weight around our necks at the moment but the intangible can still bring a lump to the throat and a tear to the eye. On Sunday I'll be supporting "Aberdeen". Link to comment
ChookterDon
Anyhoo back on topic or would you rather talking about tossing each other off?The excitement will probably edge up a fair bit if we get a good result tonight!Only thing is, what constitutes a good result ahead of sunday? A win obviously, but would a draw keep you happy or even a 1-0 loss (hopefully it wont be any sort of loss) but in all seriousness we played amazing the first half against Rangers at the beginning of the season, but even with key players out we can still prove we are no walkovers! How much I want to not be too excited, I can't wait for the game. I'm stuck 3500 miles away in Qatar and would give anything to be at Hampden today. I hoping for a performance and a victory, but after the last few games against Celtic I have a feeling of dread at the pit of my stomach... To all that are making it to the game, hope you are rewarded by the players. To all who are not going, I hope you get the AFC bug again soon, and you start to enjoy going to the football again. There is nothing worse than hearing AFC talk about "losing that loving feeling". Link to comment

fine-n-dandy
Never have I been so uninspired or lacked so much faith in my team going into a semi final.& for that I say thank you to all the shirt/wage thieves at Afc & hope that you can spring a wee surprise for us all & actually give these weegie minks a game & something to think about. Come on you reds, you are massive underdogs & nobody gives you a chance in this game (including me), so surprise us please & get us into a long awaited final. Link to comment
stirlingsheep
I'm taking the viewpoint that all our players are sh*t and we're getting hammered 9-0 again, that way I'll not be disappointed, too often this bunch have let me down. Especially last time round at Hampden, nearly felt as bad as the Queen of the South semi Link to comment

If we play as a team, cut out the stupid penalties we give away against them (5 so far in 4 games) then we have a chance. COYR! Link to comment
DieHardDandy
Excitement? Try perpetual disappointment. After the QOTS debacle, I was disappointed. The next year, we just had to beat Dunfy to meet Falkirk in the Semis and I was moments away from booking travel to Glasgow when I thought better of it and waited to see if we beat Dunfy. We didn't. Since then I've had zero appetite to travel long distances just over a game of football. Our players are poor, spineless waifs with a loser's mentality. Successive managers have tried to paper over the cracks but there remains an absolutely fundamental weakness in the mentality of Aberdeen FC players. We seem to move people on and bring in new lads and the new lads shortly fall into the bad habits of the other lads. I can't help but feel that there's something missing that hasn't been spotted yet. Whether it's coming from players, coaches or physios I don't know but it's been there for a long time. I think moving on complacent guys like Diamond and Langfield has to be at least part of the solution. For me though, I will not be shelling out on trains, planes or hotels until the Dons sort themselves out. I've had too many good weekends ruined by those losers. They're just not capable or professional enough to be trusted to perform. Take today, despite doing a lot of great work at times, Diamond cocked up and Considine gave the ref a reason to screw us over, Langfield brilliantly saved the pen only to screw up for the Mulgrew goal... and on and on and on. One step forward, 2 steps back. Roll on summer - I can't wait to get some of these wasters off our wage bill! Maybe next season we'll have a team we can trust... maybe... Link to comment
