K-9
erm, monday IS a holiday? An English holiday and just so happens the TV companies are England based and want games on their holiday for their channels. Link to comment
StandFree1982
erm, monday IS a holiday? We work every bank holiday. The only official holidays we get are Christmas and New Year, and of course the 29th now! Aberdeens average attendance over the next 3/4 home games is going to be something like 6k regardless of when the game is on. Link to comment
oilcat
erm, monday IS a holiday? Its not even a school holiday therfore less potential punters will go to the game Link to comment
Kilkito
I'm working it, was going to go but wont be able to now, don't really mind missing it, its more the prinicple that us the fans are getting treated like crap again. Link to comment
Tommy
Monday is the Aberdeen Spring holiday which makes the schools being open seem daft. Link to comment
K-9
Not just schools - most people i know are working on Monday. I am off (Friday and Monday) as our work take English holidays but will probably work and get day back and take off on Scottish/local holidays when everyone else is off. Just glad it is an away game that has been moved to Monday afternoon as we wont lose out on gate receipts being well down due to folk not being able to attend. But overall just another indication that clubs will accept moving games to any time as long as they get their cash and therefore another factor for fans to consider when it comes to season ticket renewals, which could lead to drop. Patty
It's a holiday on Monday.. blah... blah... blah... What's to stop them having it on the ~Saturday or Sunday? Apart from TV Companies demanding it be switched to a Monday. Link to comment
ollie1903
erm, monday IS a holiday? What has that got to do with anything. You think this game, on this day, at this time, ESPECIALLY on a holiday (which it's not incidentally) is a positive thing. I'm intrigued to know why Link to comment

Walt Flanagan's Dog
Now I'm assuming this will be pay at the gate given the day and stupid kick off time, but I'm not really willing to trail to Hamilton until I find out. The AFC website is as useful as a cock flavoured lollypop at the moment, so can anyone confirm that it is pay at the gate. Link to comment
ollie1903
EVERYONE i know is on holiday on monday, ergo, its a holiday our fans are becoming more and more like neil lennon every day EVERYONES AGAINST US....ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!Answer the question. Do you think a Hamilton v Aberdeen, 4.15 pm kick off on an English bank holiday, to accomodate a live game requirement on ESPN, is a positive step forward for Scottish football? Link to comment
tup
It's f**king preposterous. The only way to make people sit up and listen is for NOBODY to turn up to these games. Not a soul. Let's see all the Sky execs sell that kind of product to the servile armchair supporters. Reclaim the game. Get it out of the hands of Rangers, Celtic and the TV execs. They have far too much power. They're making a c**t of fans of teams like Aberdeen. Week in, week out we get shifted to accommodate England, usually for some fixture of utterly no consequence in Scotland, between two teams of highly paid nobodies. Link to comment
DD1903
whether its a holiday or not 4.15 is a nonsense kick off time. absolute joke. I had hoped to make the game this weekend, and could even have made an evening kick off on monday evening, but im struggling for 4.15. nonsense. re the other debate...for as long as I can remember Easter Monday has been a holiday in the weeg. Does the north east have a holiday monday another time in the year? Link to comment
K-9
According to here My link and here My link Easter Monday is holiday in England, Wales and Ireland but not Scotland. Link to comment
tup
Easter Monday is holiday in Ireland. This will be where the weegies got their wires crossed then. Link to comment
K-9
so, bearing in mind that in BT we all get different BHs, ie im off an extra day to my english manager at New Year...then why am i off on monday? am i not supposed to be?! Be same as my work who for some unknown reason go with English holidays and are off this Monday but wont get the Summer holiday in August or the local holiday Monday in September. Link to comment
ollie1903
How's it an English bank holiday? It's a bank holiday for the region that the home team comes from I have no idea how times are worked out for games...all i know is there must be a reason for it? theyre not doing it to spite aberdeen fans, no matter how much the neil lennons in our support wish it to beIt is NOT a Scottish bank holiday. That doesn't matter in the slightest. You have NOT answered the question. Again, do you think a Hamilton v Aberdeen, 4.15 pm kick off on an English bank holiday, to accomodate a live game requirement on ESPN, is a positive step forward for Scottish football? Link to comment
ollie1903
if its tied into the terms of our contract with telly? DEFINITELY we need all the money we can getThis is a positive? A step forward for? You are a f**king gluepot Link to comment
tup
yeep your bigotted thoughts to yourself please, malcontent I'm no bigot, I'm merely highlighting the massive importation of Irish prejudices into Scottish society, at considerable social cost to the rest of us, resulting in the accepted weegie norm being that Easter Monday is a bank holiday, when most of us ken fine it's nothing of the sort, always around two weeks later in this country. Anyway the real point is that ESPN once again show scant regard for Aberdeen fans. I'd rather we went bankrupt, en masse, in Scottish football, than perpetuate this sorry state of affairs. All clubs just go to the wall, f**k the banks. Then WE can dictate, what WE want, rather than being dictated to by some exec at a TV company who's never attended a game in his puff. A bit like yourself come to think of it. Link to comment
double-claw
so, bearing in mind that in BT we all get different BHs, ie im off an extra day to my english manager at New Year...then why am i off on monday? am i not supposed to be?! You get an extra day at New Year as we get the 2nd of January off instead of Monday 29th August. That will be the only difference between you and your English counterpart. Doubt I will be at a live game again this season so happy its on tv! Link to comment
tup
really? REALLY? pathetic As I already said, do you have a suggestion to break this monopolistic tedium? I've heard a few hair brained schemes of yours in the past, all of which were thouroughly unworkable. More than anything, we need to do what's best for ALL the clubs outside the OF, all teams need to get together, minus those two, and hammer out a strategy to get out of this mire. I include supporters in that too. Link to comment
