Overrated Players

Recommended Posts

Dirk Kuyt over rated? Hahahaha - behave min.

No one rates Kuyt. He's like Lucas, everyone batters into him without even watching him.

He played in a World Cup final. I don't think he should even be playing at a World Cup. The media said the Dutch team needed him. I don't think they did.

Every Liverpool fan I speak to (which is admittedly a handful) about him (haven't included yourself in this) think he's an important part of the team. I don't think so. I think he's lucky to be there.

For those reasons I think he is overrated.

See Manchester City game for reference of how Kuyt is important to Liverpool.

I could rattle off plenty other games where Kuyt is crucial to Liverpool, but I can't imagine you've sat down and watched Liverpool FC channel on 434, so it wouldn't be worth it.

It's only in the past wee while I've really sat and paid attention to what Kuyt does for Liverpool and what he gives, same with Lucas - but because fans bash Lucas and what is written in the media about him....they buy into it. Nonsense, he's an extremely good player who's developing very nicely.

Anyways that's my piece on Kuyt, think you're wrong on that one personally.

I'm not claiming to be right or wrong dude. Just my opinion.

Players over the years who I've thought were vastly overrated to name a few (and mostly played in the EPL) are

Rio Ferdinand

John Terry

Alan Smith

Frank Lampard

Michael Carrick

Gary Neville

Ronaldinho (towards the end of his Barca career)

Glen Johnson

Theo Walcott

Clarence Seedorf

Dirk Kuyt

Loads more but I'm having trouble thinking just now!

EDIT:

Scott Brown

James McFadden

Steven Pressley

Kirk Broadfoot

Gary Kenneth

Anyone who has ever played for Hibs in the last ten years.

Any Rangers or Celtic youth player who makes their first team debut.

cannot agree wi seedorf. the guy has been a champs league winner wi ajax, madrid and milan. every club hes gone to, that team has won just about everything there is to win in that country. if he was crap, hed have been found out many many years ago. it nearly 10 years since he signed for milan and is still playing regularly.

only recently has sky latched onto him but for the best part of his career, id say hes the same as kuyt, a players whose contribution is hugely under appreciated.

from my own list, id add

ibrahimovic

andy cole

Forgot about him. Quite possibly the worst transfer deal in history when Barca paid massive money and Samuel Eto'o for this donkey. A legend in his on head. Inter must have been laughing all the way to the bank. The deal was on a par with Dodds and 800k for Robbie Winters.

Kenny Miller

Barry Ferguson

Aiden McGreedy - only ever played well against us.

Andrew Driver - Not so much anymore, but last year he was so overrated it was unbelievable. In the game he scored against us he did absolutely nothing the whole game, then Foster decided he wanted to go for a wander and left him on his own! Haven't seen what all the fuss was about.
