I supported them when I was 4, I wouldn't even know what their history was at that age.

So again Tup, you're wrong - but that's expected.

I would suggest they were just coming off the back of having won everything in sight for years round about that time.

You were the bluto of your era.

At 4 I was expected to know that? I'm sure my mum was still wiping my ass at that age, I don't think I had the know of what Liverpool had done the previous years.

I watched a documentary on Hillsborough, I turned to my dad and said 'that's my team'. My dad, a Man U fan due to Fergie has hated me ever since.

He seems like he's got his head screwed on.

Was discussing this with Jaws at work yesterday about how Liverpool might shape up for the season and how Gerrard and Adam would fit in if playing at the same time (which i'd imagine they would). I think possibly something like this:

Reina

Johnson Carragher Skrtel Agger

Gerrard Meireles Adam

Kuyt Carroll Suarez

Of course it could be either of Skrtel/Agger in the centre and a new LB, but only Kenny knows who he wants there. Even with the money paid if Meireles stays i can't see Henderson playing every game. If he does then f**k knows how he'd tinker his team to fit all that midfield in their correct position.

BS - As I said before, it's all about how a team gels together and bonds. Look at the midfield Man U had last season, it wasn't that great and it was ageing, but they have a great team spirit and they blended together very well hence why they ended up as Champions.

Now I'm not saying Liverpool will win the league next season, far from it - but I feel as if they'll be back in the top 4, and this will make me happy.

Like a lot of pundits in Scotland say about the league needs a strong Aberdeen, in the EPL it needs a strong Liverpool, and i totally agree with that.

Its nae all about how a team gels and bonds, by that reasoning we (AFC) could win the SPL and the Chumpions League the following season. All the gel and bonding in the world winna make that happen, you've got to have the players with the capability to win.

If 4th will make Liverpool supporters happy they really have fallen a fair old distance.

As I said before, it's all about how a team gels together and bonds. There is no reason why Aberdeen couldn't win the league, with the right attitude they could - but they are fannies, so it won't happen.

Sorry min but no amount of gel, bonding or attitude can make any team win the title.

If Swansea play a stormer, gel, bond and have the right attitude they may finish 7th-12th.

I disagree, right attitude - and right attitude from fans. 12th man, and a teams can achieve things that they never expected.

Thats not what you said! You said any club could win the league if they have these traits.

I agree they can achieve things they never expected but Liverpool with the current squad and buying the level they have and up against Man Utd, Chelsea etc WILL NOT win the league.

Reina

Gerrard Meireles Adam

Kuyt Carroll Suarez

im similar but a few small tweeks.

we know kenny likes a 442 but with the players at his disposal, i think hell move towards the 4231

could easily work out being

reina

johnson carragher skrtel konchesky

lucas adam

kuyt gerrard suarez

carrol

if he gets downing then that lends itself back to the 442 so will probably look more like

reina

johnson carragher skrtel konchesky

gerrard lucas adam downing

carrol suarez

gerrard at right mid!?!?! i hear you say. MoTD wont be happy at all. ignore the fact that gerrards best season in recent years was when he was wide right, in the eyes of the english media, hes a centre mid.

i cant see where mereiles fits in tbh. henderson will get in because theyve just paid a fortune for him but its going to be interesting trying to balance all these big personalities

Has Dalglish lost the f**king plot?

even more interesting is he chose Liverpool over Arsenal. Arsenal seem to be struggling to keep their players happy and attract anyone - if we believe what SSN tell us of course

I'd be interested to know how much Dalglish has spent since arriving. He seems to like going for british talent too.

Think Downing might prove to be the best signing of the lot!

Fair play to Liverpools new owners, they've shown that they're not afraid to splash the cash. I wasn't sure about them at first, but it's apparent that they mean business.

But is it the owners cash or is it Liverpool FCs cash (which they don't have)?

Link to comment

Think Downing is quite an under-rated player, but no way should he be worth 18mill.

But when you see unproven players like Henderson and Jones signing for similar fees, I suppose it puts it in perspective a bit.

Football prices are retarded.

Absolutely no hope of philanthropy, they're taking an almighty gamble with the future of the club.

It's like a Ponzi scheme these crazy yanks are operating.

All is rosy in the garden right now, but the money is basically engineered through creative accounting, and has not been injected from anywhere.

Which means, in future, they're f**ked.

It wasn't directed at you.

My post was from my phone - and I didn't see your post, it was more to the usual suspects who would criticise.

Many fringe players will be told to eff off before the transfer window closes, the likes of Poulsen, Joe Cole, Konchesky (Leicester), players of that calibre.

Are you happy with the potential signing of Downing?

Link to comment

Aston Villas player of the season, gets a ball into the box and Andy Carroll will get his napper on the ball....so could be very good signing, potentially.

Adams passing today was delightful to watch, so I'm looking forward to Sunderland on first game of season.

A left back and a striker and Liverpool will push for 2nd / 3rd.

Never realised that. Personally i think he's massively overrated, but there you go.

I think Liverpool still need a left winger too, but i suppose it depends on the formation Dalglish plays.

You should know yourself that Harry Redknapp links himself with every midfielder possible. I'd like to see Joe Cole given one more season to prove he's not a has been - but if someone willing to take him off our hands to free up some wages then so be it.

Would you want him though?

Yeah, I'd take him. He's more a Spurs type player than Liverpool, plus I can't imagine he enjoys being away from London. I think 'Arry would get the best out of him, although his injury history is a concern.

Generally though, he's another 'White Pele' that hasn't quite fulfilled his potential.

Link to comment

Where would he fit in?

List Spurs midfielders.......I'm sure they have more than Liverpool.

Gareth Bale

David Bentley

Tom Huddlestone

Aaron Lennon

Jermaine Jenas

Rafael van der Vaart

Wilson Palacios

Niko Kranjčar

Danny Rose

Sandro

Steven Pienaar

Luka Modrić

They're all injured though, and Modric can rot on the bench for all I care. Also Spurs are in Europe, they will need a bigger squad. Plus it's quite easy to see who the starting players will be from that lot, unlike Liverpool.

J Cole wouldn't fit in, he never has. A luxury player. But if there's one thing Spurs do well it's luxury players.

Link to comment

I'll be honest, I can't pick out a 4 from that who I'd start every game because I rate the majority of that list, barring Bentley.

Huddlestone is majorly under rated.

There would be 5 starting since VDV plays up front.

It would be VDV, Modric, Lennon, Bale, Huddlestone.

Bentley's a good player, he just believed his own hype and lost his way. Not the first footballer to do that and won't be the last. He's a bit of a gype as well.
