K-9
I just pray that this one striker is the striker we have been needing at Aberdeen for years. An actual goal-scorer.A goalscorer needs supply. Our lack of width for creation is alarmingly obvious. Link to comment
K-9
surely Osbourne isnt taking the same wage that hartley was taking? You have to wonder just what wages our new lads are coming in on. Signing players at Championship level maybe is commanding Championship wages. Link to comment

He was on the verge of the scrapheap, no other club would touch him and he had to prove himself on trial. Link to comment
WillemVan
One player is not enough Brown, a lot more work is required to reshape that squad. Loan out Paton, Mackie and Magennis to free up their wages. Can't believe how a young man like Paton who has been given such a great opportunity shows such a lack of enthusiasm and hunger for the game. Link to comment
baconman
One more....................is that it!! We need at least 3 more players!! A striker,a winger and a left back.................minimum!! Surely the freed up wages from players who have left plus the compensation for Maguire we can afford another 3? If not we will struggle with we've got. vanderark14
regardless of how many it is, one in before the tim game would be nice, a forward to ignite the support and team before a big game.................................................I know I'm dreaming Link to comment
Jack_Glass
Arnason has showed his versatility already and osbourne can play both midfield and def.. Dont agree that they werent useful signings. I agree, if anything our midfield has been light-weight, slow and injury prone over the last few seasons and we've lacked depth/cover in defence. Both these guys give us cover and a bit of steel. Once they settle they should be very good signings. I'd say personally the midfield is the most important part of a team, protects the defence, wins the ball, creates and supports the attack. Our side needs a creative left winger and a mobile tricky goal scoring striker. Add those two and we'll keep the ball higher up the pitch and then other players can play with more confidence. Right now we're very one dimensional. Link to comment

Jack_Glass
You mean like Maguire and Aluko? Steady on, you're associating McGuire as a goal scoring threat. These two guys do need replaced, no doubt about it. Something like Aluko but less moody n injury prone and something like McGuire but with more of a goal threat n some tricks into the bargain. csamkf
That fact that we need players is BLATANTLEY obvious, but the other fact is we wont get them! Brown is TRYING to shore up the leaky defence and defend from the midfield (hense no creativity) Just a shame the we cant score goals make it look like the rest are doing the job. In my opinion (not that its worth much) get rid of Magennis, Paton, Mackie, keep Vernon use there wages to get decent strikers. What do I know I'm Goalie! I can think of one good reason...he's crap. Not joking at all, can play in the striking position which in recent times he has looked far more fitter and more passionate than Vernon in recent games, can play on either wing as he also possesses a great deal of pace however his delivery can sometimes be poor and can play lb or rb. He's got heart, but he needs to learn his trade more, especially going from keeper to striker. He's got youth on his side, modern training can bring on late development, can we afford to wait? Why not get in an EPL loan who's been well groomed at a top side who knows his job better? Buys us time to see if McGennis has the potential to grow and score goals. Link to comment

boboisared
Amen. It's always the same every year. Round about March time the manager is asked how many players will be coming in over the summer, comes out with a random number between 3 and 6, it's blown out of proportion by the EE and folk start panicking as "we need 11 new players or else we'll be sh*te again". Then come May when the season ends he casually mentions in an interview "one or two new players" - the same people then press the panic button as they assume he means literally one or two, despite it being explained to them in detail how the press twist things. Then as June/July comes and we start going for players, the same people either a) go nuts because the manager is a blabbermouth and keeps going on about targets in the press, or b) think the manager is sitting on his arse doing because he doesn't talk about his targets to the press. Throw in another misquote about numbers coming in that the same people take out of context, also any more than three days without a permanent signing brings another rant about how Milne wants the land on Pittodrie for flats etc. Then once the season starts a story like this breaks, it's explained in great detail to people how things work with loans etc later in the window, but this is then dismissed as head in the sand stuff and the merits of relegation are discussed, usually with someone being told to go f**k themselves at some point. Not saying its not understandable and I'm disappointed with our start, I've done all this the same myself over the years. Just decided a while ago it's not worth getting myself worked up over stuff that has or hasn't happened yet, far less anything that has or hasn't happened yet at AFC.+1 No - he said a mobile tricky goalscoring striker and a creative left winger. :hysterical: Link to comment

I remember same stuff exactly 1 year ago when once again areas were clearly needing strengthened but some said wait and see as there will be more players come in late August, despite manager publicly saying budget was almost done, and lo and behold the budget was done. Telling fans not to panic after seeing just how bad things are squad wise as something MIGHT just happen later this month, despite manager saying cash for just 1 more player is complete insanity imo. But would love for you to explain in great detail "how things work with loans etc later in the window" and how this will apply to us if no money left, in order to calm my panic. Well I don't think he can play any position other than *possibly as a target man. Oh yeah and as for LB or RB? What are you smokin? He can't trap or pass a ball, can't tackle and can't cross. How does that make him able to play full back? Link to comment
barassie_afc
Is this the stage we are at ? Magennis being our first pick striker ? He is pish, may improve , but he isnt good enough for first team football. Shocking state of affairs at AFC Link to comment
