J.i.t. Dundee

Funny you should say that, as that semi was 7 games after he took over (5 wins if your asking) so actually we were doing really well before the celtic semi - but since that game 26 games ago we have only won 6 times, thats including the diddy teams we have played in the cup, so brown had every chance and oppertunity to do well in that cup game.

Since brown has brought his own men in - his form has plummited.

We were heading for relegation were we? Despite never being bottom of the league until after we sacked Mcghee? Tell me if we were certs to go down then, what has changed from then till now - still in the bottom three with nothing between us and the bottom team?

I think you will find that im the most optamistic fan out there, fully believe in the potential of the club and how good we could be with a decent manager at the healm and decent backing by the club, browns inabilities as a club manager are there for all too see. Until saturdays win against cally were were going through the second (if not) worst spell in the clubs history in the league.

McGhee was rightly given boot after f**king up in the summer and putting us on run of 6 wins, 1 draw and 11 defeats.

Currently we are on run of 4 wins, 2 draws and 10 defeats and it is not any more acceptable now and needs to improve fast. And our upcoming fixtures don't look too easy.

Unlinke a lot of posters on this board I have patience. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that. I stand by my comment Brown IS doing a fantastic job.

Edit to add - I'm not so sure it's a lack of fitness people are actually seeing. It's more a team sitting deep and defending a lead. I think Browns tactic is get ahead and then once ahead the opposition have to come out and at us and when they do we try to counter attack them. I also think he is using this tactic at present to get some wins under the belt and improve the confidence within the team. Once the team is brimming with confidence we may start to see the 2 or 3 nil wins.

We should not be sitting in, defending a 16th minute 1-0 lead and relying on the counter attack against ANYONE at Pittodrie, let alone Dundee.

I could understand you claiming it as a spell if we had played 20 games but 5 games in FFS and with virtually a new team. If you are not impatient and have common sense why don't you give leeway due to the team being a virtually new one.

And stop harping on about fullbacks. Foster has done just as good as any fullback we could possibly afford to bring in. As i kept saying Foster had his best season at left back for us under Calderwood. Ryan Jack or Chris Clark can both play right back and we have young Robertson as cover for Left back.

THERE IS STILL MORE SIGNINGS TO COME STOP PANICKING!

We are a work in progress Stoney and like it or not we will lose games as we Gel but I believe we will become a strong unit and be Top 6 this season.

Brown is trying to get us into the winning ways 1st then he will build from that. Wins breed confidence and with a few good wins you will see us attacking more i'm sure of this.

The fact you think things were pretty decent under Mcghee really does make any other opinion you have pointless . 9-0 , coming after an awful run of form is enough in itself . We were heading for relegation . The McGhee team Brown took over was useless in every way . I remember most folk on here saying relegation was highly likely after the Hearts 5-0 defeat . Brown saved us . Accept it .

Seem to remember losing to Inverness last season at home as well when we opened up and also throwing away a 2 goal lead against the huns.

Learning to defend a lead will make us a much stronger side.

Which ironically has what Brown has made a career out of, he generally makes his teams strong defensively and hard to beat first and foremost.

Er ok

No? I thought it was a pretty good attacking performance 1st half against Caley before sitting in and defending the lead 2nd half. 3 pts as well

Attacked Dundee from the off pretty well but again we defended the lead. Don't remember any clear cut chances from Dundee so we must have defended really well wouldn't you say.

I would agree there is some degree of solidity, however I just dont see many attacking options

When have i suggested we done well under Mcghee? that will be a good quote for you to try and find (something that seems to happen on a regular basis)

The Mcghee team that brown took over won 5 in his first 7, until saturday we had won amount in the same in the previous 25 games.

No? Seem to remember we were heading for relegation when Brown came in! He did the job he was asked straight away.

Seem to remember we were getting knocked out cups by low league opposition. Brown has steered us past 2 trick 1st div sides already.

Seem to remember we were taking pastings from Celtic. a 1-0 loss to them is a massive improvement already on last season and let's be honest had Considine not been sent off at Pittodrie last season we prob wouldn't have lost heavily in that game either if at all.

He has improved our defence and midfield already and is working on the attack now.

Some of us only seem to be seeing/dwelling on the positives & some it seems only seem to be seeing/dwelling on the negatives regarding Aberdeen fc.

I on the other hand have studied at length both postives & negatives of our club as it is right now (didn't take me as long studying the positives ;) ) & I have come to the conclusion that as a football club we are STILL sh*te!

Even the biggest of shites that are left in the toilet & are hard to flush EVENTUALLY do get flushed at somepoint.

What has that got to do with anything

It was Dundee ffs.

Incredulous conceit min, this is not 1985, and we have no divine right to beat anyone, let alone think we should be rolling over a team who have not lost here for a couple of decades.

I'd be happy to win every game 1-0, like Graham's Arsenal.

The fact you think we were safe from relegation with Mcghee suggests you dont think he was that bad (as to anyone who saw his side , relegation was a near certainty .

I know this only too well. We are far, far from being in a position to expect to turn up and beat anyone.

It's not conceit, it's a rightful expectation. I expect to be able to dictate the pace of the game, for the majority of it anyway, and not have to defend for dear life for the best part of an hour, and "rely on the counter attack" against the Dundee's of this world though. ESPECIALLY at home.

Like it or not we are in relegation battle form.

And thats not my opinion either no amount of optmism can change results.

talk of form right now is a waste of time.

Spurs are bottom of the premier league - are they in a relegation battle?

Motherwell are sitting second in the SPL - are they going to challenge for the league

Spurs are in a relegation battle till they start winning games.

Motherwell are chellenging for the the title until they start losing games.

and at this time until we start winning games we are in a relegation battle - and we have a very very unfavourable run of games on the next 4 weeks.
