Spurs are in a relegation battle till they start winning games.

Motherwell are chellenging for the the title until they start losing games.

and at this time until we start winning games we are in a relegation battle - and we have a very very unfavourable run of games on the next 4 weeks.

I'll leave it there

talk of form right now is a waste of time.

Spurs are bottom of the premier league - are they in a relegation battle?

Motherwell are sitting second in the SPL - are they going to challenge for the league

Spurs have played 1 game.

Motherwell are up there challenging at moment - yes absolutely. Unlikely to stay there but up there challengingafter 5 games

Like it or not we are in relegation battle form.

And thats not my opinion either no amount of optmism can change results.

Rubbish we are only 6 points off top of the league FFS.

Relegation battle my arse. If we are in same position after 20 games then Yes you can make this claim but bloody hell Stoney 5 games in :banghead:

Thats your problem in a nutshell , over-reaction either way . Tottenham are not getting relegated and Motherwell are winning nothing .

No PERSPECTIVE at all .

Nobody said Tottenham would get relegated and nobody said Motherwell would win anything. That is your problem in a nutshell.

11 games without a win in all competitions. 1916-17, 1926-27 & 2009-10.

2009-10 was all competitions though, including getting knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Raith.

We just came out of run of 3 wins in 19 games. in 2009/10 won 4 out of 5 before the winless run but did go 3 wins in 20 that season. Never had that bad a run in 1926/27 but in 1916/17 did go 3 wins in 20 again.

So probably 3rd worst run in clubs history.

Although think it was reported that 2 wins in 15 league games was a run that was matched but never had worse.

However out of that run now and hopefully onwards and upwards.

Quite scary that if we hadn't won the next game it would have been the longest run without a win. Don't remember knowing that at the time though, or I'd have been a lot more worried going into it.

I think if you ask 1 million football fans if a team could be considered to be in a relegation battle after 1 game of a 38 game season, you would be the sole person to answer yes.

As the same people about being challenging for the title after 5 games of 38, you might get a few more voices of agreement.

Your statements are the biggest load of bollox i've heard in my life.

If a team is 6 points off the top of the league with 33 games remaining they are still challenging for the title. Oh look, that's us!

Your stats mean bog all devoid of context. Which they inevitably are.

Deary me, this is a loony house today. We don't even know what our final squad is going to be for the guts of the season, so perhaps put talk of potential relegation battles off till we are in a position where we have a full squad in place and then decide what that squad is capable of when they play a few games together.

Must be comforting to be a St Mirren or Dunfermline fan, knowing that they are safe from the drop already...

We can I think reasonably ask what our form is like - superficially we are on a good run, 2 recent wins having lost the three previous games.

We can I think reasonably look at the team and say - is this a cohesive unit?

Are the main roles filled by players who are, or who could reasonably be expected to , fill them over the course of this season?

Do we have a cohort of players who give us flexibility of style and options and protection against the inevitible injuries and suspensions?

We cannot predict with certainty how the season will go, there are some good signs, some bad. Without a shadow of doubt I'd take Motherwells position over our own,

And as for reading too much into position it is always wise not to read too little inot it too, Man Utdf and City are top in England already and the bigot brorthers already occupy 2 of the top 3 spots. Form tends not too change hugely. We have not played all the teams yet and I hope we'll pick up more points in games to come but frankly given last season our first job is to survive - to do that we need to be competing with (and beating) teams who are likely to be in relgation battles, this season we've beaten ICT at home, drawn with St J at home, lost at St Mirren really badly, lost at Hearts and lost at home to Paranoid FC. It's not great and whilst we all hope it will improve there are flaws in our squad and our level of fitness which need to be improved as IF we continue with our form over the first 5 league games we will be in the bottom quarter as we currently are.

Now I'm relieved we have scored 3 goals in our six games and have won 2 of them but I think it is niaive to think that everything in the garden is rosy because we had one good half against ICT and a good 20 minutes against Dundee FC.

Absolutley not.

Our full backs cant defend and our back two are as shakey as any pairing we have had.

The central midfield is slow and very very unfit and we lack width and devoid of any creativity.

Then the strikers.................Oh lord the strikers.
