Jocky Balboa
But that was in a class team, goals created by jess / Bett / Mason / shearer / etc. Booth was decent enough, in a very good side. Sorry to say but whoever earlier compared him to Kenny Miller and reckoned he was a better player needs to take off their red tinted specs and compare their respective records. It was me that compared him to Kenny Minker and I'm sorry to inform you that I have no rose-tinted specs. Booth WAS a far better player and if you think my comparisons were wrong, consider that Minker banged them in for Rangers and Celtic sides that had a duopoly over what is the poorest standard of Scottish Football in living memory (yet failed miserably in England). For him, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. That he has reached the Hall of Fame with over 50 Caps, while even players like Mark McGhee and Peter Weir had less than 10 between them, says a lot about not only OF bias, but how low the standard of Scottish player is today. Kenny Minker = high rent Barren Mackie. Link to comment
barassie_afc
Seen the usual comments from the football cognescenti (spelling) on here, what did he achieve, quite a bit, plus his goals arguably got us to Euro 96 Link to comment

Scott Booth - 349 games 88 Goals (Scotland 22 games 6 goals) 1 goal in 4 games Kenny Miller - 473 games 160 goals (Scotland 56 games 14 goals) 1 goal in 3 games or Kenny Miller (minus all games/goals for old firm) 309 games 96 goals 1 goal in 3.2 games And when Scott Booth played for Aberdeen you could argue that Scottish football was in a Duopoly of Aberdeen and Rangers at that time, when Rangers came first and Aberdeen came second every year (sometimes as top scorers in the league.) Not forgetting the fact the Miller has played in the Premiership (including scoring the winner at Old Trafford), won the Scottish Golden Boot and Young Player of the Year awards, and has scored against Italy, Germany, Croatia and Ukraine for Scotland. So I have to disagree I'm afraid... Link to comment

Kilkito
I'm surprised at how fondly remembered he is on here, I liked him for sure, but Jess had more talent in his wee toe than Booth had in his whole body. I think my memories are tarnished by Booths 2nd time round with us, where 5 minutes in he'd be bent double puffing out his arse. In my opinion Jess, Shearer and Gilhaus were way above Scott Booth, but he was better than Malcolm Kpedeko(can't remember if thats how you spelled it. Link to comment
Jonty
Kenny Miller minus games played for Old Firm? That doesn't make sense. Surely he has played the majority of his career in the SPL, so I'm not following yer stats, could you maybe clear that up? Remove all the games in which Miller played for either Rangers and Celtic, and remove all the goals he scored for either Rangers or Celtic. Link to comment
Jonty
So for Rangers and Celtic combined, you're saying he has only scored 64 goals? He's also only played 144 games? I find that staggering, I don't discredit your stats, just thought it was a lot more. Apologies 164 games, which makes his non Celtic/non Rangers stats 1 goal every 3.2 games. According to Wikipedia; - First spell at Rangers - 30 games, 8 goals Celtic - 33 games, 7 goals Second spell at Rangers - 81 games, 49 goals. Of course goalscoring is not the be all and end all for a striker, not as if Booth was that hard a worker though, and can't imagine he had too many assists either. He was decent but no more. Redstar
Much as I hate the tinky cu*t Miller....he is head and shoulders above Booth in all areas... I think some of you guys are getting nostalgic...hardly surprising after the dross we've been fed for the last few years...I must be getting old...never thought I'd see the day when Scott Booth was thought as anything more than a second choice striker Link to comment

The SPL the last few years has been a dreadful standard which is getting worse. Link to comment
BillyStarkDivinHeeder
How did Aitken run him out the club - Well he transfer-listed him for a start! think Bolton made a bid for him that was turned down just before Dortmund came in for him. Link to comment

So I have to disagree I'm afraid... Again, you miss my point. Scottish Football was in a FAR healthier state back then, hence the competition was tougher. Minker played in OF teams that regularly thumped everybody by 4-5 goals at a canter. Hence he is just a high-rent Barren Mackie. Booth's record would've been even better, had he not been playing half-injured so much of the time. Call it bad luck, call him a pussy, but when fully fit he was an exciting player and still managed 10 goals in 25 games in his last season for us. Go figure. I used to call him Tampax, because he was always in for one week, then out for three. Link to comment
