Bobby Connor
No, the Act is designed purely for political ends. It will have no effect on the consumption of alcohol in Scotland but has been passed simply so the SNP can swan around claiming to have done something about a problem without having to address the real issues. In exactly the same way that they are doing with their "football supporters" Bill. Useless politicians trying to justify their existence but without the knowledge or ability to address the real issues. Incorrect. The act is a watered down (no pun intended) version of what was a good idea. Minimum price on alcohol might have had some impact and your 3 litre bottle of super strength cider would no longer be Link to comment
daytripping
They're obsessed with people living longer even if the Country can't afford it, I'd bring back smoking in bars and slash alcohol taxation should I ever become prime minister, people will never see their pension age soon, at least let them enjoy themselves in their spare time. Bobby Connor
The act is not fit for purpose, though, so there was little point in passing this "watered down" version, I have my doubts as to whether the original proposals of minimum pricing would of had any impact anyway but the parliament should have accepted this and not bothered passing legislation that does not do what they are claiming it is going to do. Much better to have come out and said "This act now won't work so we are going to focus our efforts on other (more effective) methods of dealing with the alcohol issue in Scotland" than try and parade this as the answer to the countries problems. That's it in a nutshell. Agreed. Link to comment
muttondressedaslamb
Aren't they still going to pass minimum pricing anyway? Now that they have a majority in Parliament? Link to comment

You'll only end pissing it into a pot anyway...or up against a wall and having a 24 - 72 hour hangover , depending. Whit a fucking fuss y'all make. Government's deein' ye a favour , boys. Sheep#1
Inevitable. They won't be paying 30% more for individual cans anyway, so no real surprise there. Was in Morrisons today and they were proudly selling loads of 12 packs for Link to comment

What is the obsession some have with living until 90-odd? If I wanted to be sitting in a pool of my own piss with no recollection of my friends and family, I'd drink a litre of meths and go to a Rangers match. Link to comment
