K-9
plenty of developers will be looking for land to build on.But this land has only planning permission for building certain amount of houses to a certain specification which was done by a certain local building company, so other companies will have their hands tied on this one making it not too attractive a purchase. And the fact they can't build on it for another 2 years. Link to comment

Ah so you aren't speaking with fact you are just surmising like I am. Just checking grumpy. We'll see, hopefully there are some strong bids in there and we have potential for squeezing maximum land value, wouldn't suprise me if SMG came through though. Link to comment

If that were the case then there would not be a shortage of builders looking to do so. Link to comment
Stoney
Dont see there being much bidding on this, dandara who have bought most of the sites out at this end of town have stopped building down at stoneywood mill because the first lost of 3-4 bedroom places arnt selling. Who else is there? Kingseat has just re-started after what 5 years sitting idle and new houses down at skene also stopped. It has to be SMG Link to comment

Thats not to say someone wouoldn't buy it with a view to developing it further down the line. I have an idea though - what doesn't someone buy it...........................and build a stadium on it? If that were the case then there would not be a shortage of builders looking to do so.Suppose they could always submit their own plans at later date but that would be a risk you would think. TWL said yesterday there were no official noted interests in the land as at yesterday but doubt that means anthing since already a closing date for bids no need to put in noted interest. A bidding war would be perfect for AFC but have my doubts and think land will go for rock bottom price. Link to comment

Scarface
When will the public find out who has bid and who's been successful? In today's economic climate, would it be possible for no acceptable bids to be made and the Club have to put the site back on the market? Link to comment

Jazzer_Bett
I ken a mannie at Barr that told me they had the construction deal tied up way back in August - which was hush hush at the time. They have confidence in the build starting at the projected start date so clearly Milney is pretty sure abuot this "Grand Projet" Link to comment

FFS Jazzer min, you'll be telling us that Liorston is the chosen venue for the new stadium as Kingswells is no longer viable due to the greenbelt next. Link to comment

RUL
Fairly obvious that SMG were always going to win the contract, surely to feck Milne wouldn't rip off his own club. Link to comment
Henry
FFS EPK, Jazzer is in the know, and close to the construction industry. Us plebs had to wait all the way until August 18th until it emerged in the P&J. Link to comment
