Crowd Idea

See if you get food free as part of a promotion, like buy a game ticket get free food would the VAT need to be paid (I'd say no surely?)? Just thinking £10 ticket plus free hotdog/pie and drink, if no VAT (not sure how their could be, it's a promotional item) would cost Aberdeen very little but the price of that normally would drain off a fair cut to HMRC. Just meaning would adding free food onto tickets be a tax efficient (i.e. cheaper) way to bring in the punters? To my simple layman mind would claw back £1 for every £5 of food "sold" by just including it "free" on the tickets. Could we do that too?

EDIT: Price meaning what we'd pay, cost meaning what it'd cost them to give it to us. Obviously would need to model how many normally go for it, how many would if it was free etc. and how many would say "you know I could go another".
