Ke1t
Can't help but think McGhee is absolutely 100% on the money. Any time I've seen Milne interviewed he has all the personality, charisma and energy of a dead sloth. If anyone could suck the life out of a room, I'd say it's Milne. And as the guy at the helm, that doesn't really bode well for the organisation. Well, I mean a decade and a half with fuck all to show for it, aside from dwindling crowds and years of playing staff who act like zombies, , more or less confirms that as far as I'm concerned. Rossshepherd
I attempted to start a thread of it, because I had not seen a thread for it, so my comment was nicely placed in here, making me look like a complete nut. Nae bad. The man Is a total arse. Remember after the Dundee cup game where It was 3-2 was the first time I think I remember thinking.. 'Fuck Is this bloke on about?' He ranted like a madman about how In 12 months time, we'd have a different Paton(True, he got even less of a game and became a bigger wank), a different Pawlett(Injured) and a different Maguire(Still a tit). Redmist1903
Really good interview with Ifil in the Sun today giving his side of events during McGhees time there. The guy was shite, fair enough but fair play on him not being bitter and being nothing but complimentary about the dons. Good lad. ABERDEEN reject Jerel Ifil became so sick of life under Mark McGhee he turned to prayer to keep his sanity. Christian Ifil was stunned by McGhee's weekend rant in which he criticised everyone at Pittodrie Link to comment

I think McGhee was clutching at straws with that one...he's the manager and getting results should be his number one concern, just because milne is only at the club a couple days a week compared to the Motherwell chairman, I really don't think the players will care. In terms of the overall atmosphere at the club, I think the manager can affect that a lot more than the chairman. Day to day he's there working with the players, sees everyone at the club. If McGhee didn't like the atmosphere he should've changed it. How often are the Glazers at OT? And they're hated even more than Milne. Link to comment
Scarface
Milne and Miller were far from blameless but it was primarily McGhee's own fault that he was the biggest managerial disaster in AFC's history. Ifil was a bit of a bombscare in defence but he's a likable guy and his loyalty and professionalism were never in question. Link to comment
Jack_Glass
Meldrum was brought in to keep them / make them fit then yeah? Do what a coach would do? Running normally gets players fit in my view, I've stopped my running - I feel unfit as fuck nowadays. Leighton is a goalkeeping coach and that is it. Meldrum was more than just a goalkeeper coach. I would counter that by saying under McGhee we looked extremely unfit. Supporting this opinion would be fairly easy given we lost & drew more games than we won, especially against part-time opposition. Link to comment

vanderark14
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/aberdeen/2011/10/25/ex-aberdeen-boss-jimmy-calderwood-slams-successor-mark-mcghee-over-his-dons-slur-86908-23513312/ JIMMY CALDERWOOD has poured scorn on Mark McGhee's claim that Aberdeen is rotten to the core and insists the ex-Dons boss is blaming the club for his own failings.Gothenburg Great McGhee has admitted he made the wrong career choice by returning to Pittodrie in June 2009.McGhee ended up being sacked last December after the worst run of results in the club's history which included a record 9-0 humiliation by Celtic. The former Dons striker now says there was no leadership from chairman Stewart Milne and that the players resented him, his staff and their coaching methods. And he maintains the club is also full of cliques and that Pittodrie is now gripped by a cold, unfriendly atmosphere. However Calderwood, whose dismissal paved the way for McGhee to take charge at the club, admits he is stunned by the criticism of the club he still loves. He said: "I am astounded by Mark's comments about Aberdeen. He inherited a decent legacy with the club in Europe and a willing and motivated group of players who had taken it there."There were a lot of strong characters in the dressing-room but never once in my five years there did I feel any resentment from any player."In my 190 games in charge, we won a lot more than we lost and always finished in the top half of the league. We also reached the last 32 in the UEFA Cup and couldn't have done all that unless the players were hungry, willing and committed."There were constant changes in the playing staff because were always trying to improve and the board was invariably supportive of my plans."The office staff were also absolutely magnificent. It was a wonderful, happy club where I would have been content to spend the rest of my career."I believe three cup semi-final defeats did for me although I have never been given a reason. That gnaws away at me, I wish Stewart Milne or Willie Miller would tell me and I'd get closure."As for Mark's sacking, he's been in the game long enough to know a manager lives or dies by results."Right from the start Aberdeen seemed to change - and not for the better."Every manager is entitled to work to his own agenda but it is wrong to blame the players because I know them better than their parents and every one was a good pro who would do his best."When you lose a game 9-0, you should know you are under pressure because that sort of result should never happen at a club like Aberdeen."It is a huge club and expectations are high. Mark came nowhere near meeting them and paid the price with his job." Link to comment

Wonderful club 1. that one kind of annoys me too 2. HE will know the reason for his sacking but I think he's having a dig at WM and SM, why did none of those two have the balls to tell him? 3. I've no issue with him being complimentary about this club. Link to comment

StandFree1982
PlodderWood right on the money, McGhee inherited a side which had just finished 4th in the league and in Europe...how he managed to go from that to one of the worst Aberdeen sides i've ever had the displeasure of supporting is beyond me. Site Sponsor RTYD Posted October 25, 2011 Site Sponsor Share Posted October 25, 2011 I didn't meet him but met his wife through business. I told her that I was helping to organise a charity event and unprompted she came to my office with a signed shirt Jerel had bought himself. (we ended up buying it and it is on the office wall of shame, but that is not the point) Very decent people. Clearly unlike McGhee. Link to comment

Site Sponsor RTYD Posted October 25, 2011 Site Sponsor Share Posted October 25, 2011 Did he fuck, any time we had a cup disaster he insinuated fans were harking back to the Gothenburg days and thus making his job harder. Him and Willie Miller were quite the double act back in the day. I believe he used the expression "Keyboard warriors" several times. That he still appreciates the club is a credit to him, but he had many pops at the fans and our "unrealistic expectations". Link to comment
