Mark Mcghee In The Sunday Herald

Recommended Posts

Did he fuck, any time we had a cup disaster he insinuated fans were harking back to the Gothenburg days and thus making his job harder.

Him and Willie Miller were quite the double act back in the day.

Un-realistic expections and living in the past.

Also first thing that he did at aberdeen was have a pop at us soft aberdonians

Fuck them both, cut from the same cloth and full of their own self importance

And any time we did well he would say we were 'magnificent' supporters.

Such is life.

I'm talking overall rather than specific incidents.

Well his time was indeed up but I don't think we should look back bitterly considering he does not reciprocate that, McGhee seems to hate us.

I don't think that many do look back with bitterness on his reign. Some thought he was well past his sell by date, others wanted him to stay, but overall he would get a positive response from the majority who bumped into him.

I tend to see it as more of an anti-Mark McGhee story, he rubbished the club prior to our tattiedome appointment, Ifil seems to have defended us.

Having said that, I fully expect to see Durrant et al wheeled out by Thursday for the benefit of the scum who finance these rags.

Knee need for that.

Who cares all the better when we do in Rangers

Not me - all 3 (McGhee, Calderwood & Ifil) are in the past and are all mistakes best forgotten as long as we learn lesson from it. But some do care what the gutter press come up with invariably in weeks leading up to games against the Old Firm (mainly against Rangers).

Personally hope it just stokes up the hatred even more and forces a togetherness amongst Dons fans leading to cracking atmosphere but in the main football fans are a bit stupid and unlikely to take the press games this way!!

I think McGhee believes by pointing the blame at Milne and lack of leadership he can excuse his own ineptitude. All he has to do was give the necessary leadership within the coaching and playing staff. A good manager would have achieved that regardless of the lack from the top.

As for the lack of leadership from the top, well frankly anyone can see that - you don't have to try being Afc manager to realise that is missing.

I think Ifil hit the nail on the head when he talks of arrogance. I suspect arrogance is the overriding aspect of McGhee's personality and I get the feeling he just isn't very popular with anyone really. He might be best mates with Strachan but again he is a similarly unpopular figure in many ways.

Ifil didn't do well at Afc but at least he has kept his self respect and is honest to himself and everyone else. I respect him for that.

Can McGhee really say the same?

With the likes of kerr and mcdonald, it wont be in their best interest to have a go at Aberdeen, they will still have mates within the club and have hardly hit the heights since they left. Another the reason for their hatred was Mcghee who has left, so if any story comes out itll likely be anti mcghee one(just like ifil) instead of an anti Aberdeen fc one.

It's quite simple really. McGhee has been out of a job for almost a year now. He's just taken the opportunity to remind people that he is still around and is in the market for another job. Maybe the gagging order clause in his payoff has run out now.

Best to forget about him now and move on. There's no real shocks in what he says anyway.

Seems to have been pushed by the Weegie rag writer, why the feck else would he go all the way down to Brighton for the interview?

"I believe three cup semi-final defeats did for me although I have never been given a reason. That gnaws away at me, I wish Stewart Milne or Willie Miller would tell me and I'd get closure.

Three?! Otherwise, I can see some of what he is saying is fair enough (heard it all before), but he basically got to build the playing side of it how he wanted it, something McGhee didn't quite get the opportunity to. McGhee blaming receptionists not taking an interest in his grandchildren is just absolutely pathetic.

Ifil is one the worst players ever to "grace" the red shirt!!

No only one of the most misplaced - as a right back he was truly awful, all his strengths lost, all his weaknesses exposed. As a centre half, given the alternatives at the time he was adequate. Slow to turn, awful in distribution but solid in the tackle and unafraid. Sadly in my time following the dons, I've seen a lot worse. Playing him as a right back was ludicrous and for that alone Magoo deserved his jotters.

the guy was feeling low and he thought going to the church helped him through it

who are you to say it didnt?

anyway, great interview by ifil and have more respect for him now

...and who are you to question me? Circular argument.

I'm merely stating that he thinks religion has served him well (as many deluded believers do), when in fact he's now at a non league club, been involved in part of Aberdeen's worst footballing history, plus he's a shit footballer...praise the Lord! But he does seem like a nice guy, so tip of the cap there.

Everything in life's about opinions, I said mine and you said yours. No need to get yur panties in a twist.

I share your aethiestic views, but it is a bit poor thinking that someone turns to religion to advance themselves in a professional respect. He seems to turn to God for guidance in all aspects of his life, who are you to question how that has advance him in entirety based on your opinions of him as a footballer?
