The Boofon
What's the point in all this cloud business? Am I missing something here or what? I have a 1Gegabyte media playing hard drive stacked full of music, films, TV series and porn. It weighs next to fuck all and I can listen or view anything from it through my telly at home or my laptop while I'm at home or away. What other advantages does having a "cloud" give that I'm not currently getting with a 1Gegabyte media playing hard drive? Link to comment
thebladder
If your drive fails you lose everyhting, if a drive on the cloud fails they have umpteen backups to restore from. You could mitigate the risk by just buying a second external drive though and copying all your data onto that. Chances of both failing before you replace one is very very slim. Link to comment

I back up my drive regularly so I'm happy with how I have it. If cloud is purely a back up system then it seems an awful lot of stuff for what is essentially a Rapidshare account. Link to comment
