Crossbow
Yup - and that is us up to 4 shots on target in last 3 games!! I'm glad we are exploiting our many strikers to the best of their ability - what a farce. Now between 1 (lowest acceptable - actually leaving relegation mire) and 4 (naively optimistic - we are moving forward) points behind target. Umpteen strikers and only 1 half decent - no width, no creativity, no fullbacks, no captain, no ideas. Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Yup - and that is us up to 4 shots on target in last 3 games!! THAT is just pure criminal & brown has the cheek to slate Hearts for setting out for a draw. When that's usually his ONLY tactic. But never mind the best players will be available soon (you know) once the Premiership teams have their squads sorted & decide who can go on loan.Be some creative exciting players coming then. fine-n-dandy
Well we've gotten a lot more than I thought already. Currently on 24 points & I'd guess around 2 or maybe 3 wins away from certain safety. last few seasons 30 points was enough to ensure safety, except 08/09 when ICT went down on goal dif with 37 pts but I'd say that the Pars will struggle to breach the 30 point barrier, so a couple of wins should see us safe. Dandyesque
While we are more than capable of getting 5 wins from that, I think double figures is the minimum we need to get, otherwise there will be a serious question over whether Brown can turn the ship around. I didn't expect top 6 this season, but I did expect signs of progress. I've seen some, but it needs to turn a bit more tangible soon. Around what I said I thought we should get. Brown safe in my book and I expect us to progress now and get a larger haul in the subsequent eleven games when they come round. Link to comment
hopalong
I know I'm being a dick and may have been mentioned but it's annoying me and I simply had to mention it 'How many'. Link to comment
MincePie
Only two points off the holy grail of top 6 ( ) which makes the fuck up against St Mirren from 2-0, the loss at Inverness and the 3-3 at Dunfermline even more annoying, opportunities lost. Link to comment
Crossbow
Whilst delighted by the result yesterday and the recognition that both Dunfermline and Hibs are so poor that they will struggle to save themselves so in one sense we are out of the mire we are so far away from a good all round side it remains worrying. I suspect with that last result Brown is safe for this season but we are deservedly where we should be and whilst I hope we will "kick on" and improve the reality is that we are still largely the unbalanced team that was humiliated by St Mirren. We have not gained enough points to make me content - I expect better than relief at being 9th welcome though that might be - and the top 6 is nothing and should never be an issue. CB has a work to do in the transfer window to sort out this squad. Link to comment

St Mirren aren't the shite team from the previous seasons, they are playing a lot better football this year than a lot of other teams we have beaten so a bit unfair on them i think there. They've drawn with & beaten the huns as well this season, which is something we've failed to do. Link to comment
tup
St Mirren are a good team. What yesterday proves more resoundingly than ever before is that if you take away Rangers and Celtic we would have a vibrant, extremely competitive league, with terrific attendances. Factor in those two evil organisations, and everyone loses the will to live, and the league becomes the worldwide joke it currently is. Link to comment
Site Sponsor RTYD Posted January 4, 2012 Site Sponsor Share Posted January 4, 2012 11/24 Turned out to be 12/24. Room for a lot of improvement. Link to comment
diamondsr4ever
I thought by the turn of the year we would have just dropped into the top 6, not far off it and a win in the next 2 games would be ideal with a "shock" win at ibrox to follow. Link to comment

My comments on St Mirren were not based on our performance at home (which was in itself unacceptable) but on our away performance earlier in the season. As a point of public record St Mirren are a poor team in a league full of poor teams. That AFC cannot muster enough firepower and ability to beat that squad from Paisley says a great deal about us and them - we do not even rate as poor yet. Sure they're doing well (for them) in a league full of dross. Tup I'd refer you to your own comments earlier in the season about St Mirren. We have a squad with a few decent players but one that remains and plays in an unbalanced fashion. I would agree that the league is poorer than it could be as a direct result of the evil duo from Glasgow and their actions but we should not deceive ourselves into thinking that the other teams are bubbling under with brilliance becuase largely they are not. St Mirren are doing well for them but regardless of how well St Mirren are doing we should always be seeing them as a potential win not as a grasping draw at home and a cantering defeat in Paisley. We remain a long way from a good side. Link to comment
tup
It's very simple, the other teams are equal, because they get a fraction of the resources of football in this country to share out between themselves. The potential to be 'good' within those parameters does not exist. However, the point stands, the league would be excellent without the top two. Link to comment
