Our Two Great Escapes

Recommended Posts

Of course. Board has been a problem for well over a decade.

Correct.

Terrible decisions made over the last I'd say 15 years including throwing money at managers without a clue how to spend it, not giving any money to managers who knows how to spend it etc etc.

We have a team capable of better performances at the moment than we had last year which is the only stat I'm really interested in. What happened in seasons gone by is nice to look at and compare but not really of any help what so ever.

We won the league with the least number of goals ever conceded in the premier league in 1983 -1984. 21 goals conceded. Celtic scored more goals but finished 7 points behind.

Does that mean Celtic were a better attacking team than Aberdeen?

Of course it does. Statistics show they scored more goals.

Who won the league though?

You can compare stats all day long it doesn't hide the fact that the team are underperforming and need to either have a change in style, management or add considerably to the squad in January.

You Can do your own stats lazy bones

AFC 1995 - 1996 Average of 1.19 for / 1.27 against

AFC 1999 - 2000 Average of 1.22 for / 2.3 against

AFC 2011 - 2012 Average of 1.13 for / 1.4 against

Right, so in 99-2000, our average result was somewhere around the region of a 2-1 defeat.

Whereas now it's closer to a 1-1 draw. Either way, we are clearly far closer to our rivals in terms of results than we were a decade ago.

So nothing to worry about at all.

Except where to get your hole and how much hair we'll have left next Christmas?

Was thinking of the last twice we finished the season in deep trouble.

1994/1995 we averaged 1.13 points per game

1999/2000 we averaged 0.91 points per game

This season we are on

0.86 points per game.

What is it going to take to turn things around? New Board? New Management or New Players?

What sort of investment would you expect would turn our situation around.

94/95 12 points from 15 games averaging 0.8 points per game

99/2000 6 points from 15 games averaging 0.4 points per game

2011/12 13 points from 15 games averaging 0.86 points per game

We are doing slightly better this season but not by much.

I thought and probably still think brown is the right man, I wanted him to make us more compact, solid and hard to beat, I do not worry about going down 1 bit.

You know my opinion on it anyway, but I really think we need 2 or 3 attacking options to add to the squad in January and another full back, and we will be in a far better place come May, but I still think we could scrape top 6.

just concede the fact that these stats are bloody compoundingly worrying

also tell me which managers we had who could spend money wisely but werent given any, please?

They are worrying to someone who worries about stats.

As per my last post I don't as stats can be very misleading.

EDIT: Fuck it not falling for it.

Your Prozone you speak of is totally different from comparing stuff from 15 years ago and well worth using.
