Aberdeen and Bristol Rovers supporter here, lived in Aberdeen for 14 years and returned to Bristol 6 years ago but still a shareholder and exhiled "Don" !

Apparently Mark Mcghee being interviewed for the Rovers job tomorrow, what can we expect if he gets the job, open attacking football ?

He would have a good budget for League 2 with scope to bring in a few players to supplement what we have.

Good choice ?????

We're probably not the best people to ask.

He made some mistakes when he first joined us and he also inherited a squad that hated the fact the last manager had been ditched. He didn't stand much of a chance with us nor did he do himself any favours.

He's a OK manager with an OK record that spoiled it coming to a club he was a legend at.

Look him up on Wikipedia, it's what he'd suggest himself.

Was well on his way to getting Aberdeen relegated, taking a team that had qualified for European Football and turning them into a team that couldn't... sorry, wouldn't... beat a team of asthmatic handicapped 5 year olds.

His first interview as Aberdeen manager was basically this. "I'm only here because Celtic didn't hire me."

He then proceeded to alienate the players to the extent that to say they were "Going through the motions" would be to give massive undue credit to their 'efforts' under McGhee.

Then he accused the fans of spitting on him, something no-one in the ground seems to have seen aside from McGhee himself.

What else... oh, yeah.. he achieve a couple of records though... our highest domestic defeat, 9-0 to Celtic was one. He refused to either apologise for that one, or even acknowledge he'd done anything wrong. It was, he said, just three points.

He then led the club to its record European defeat. 8-1 (agg) versus Sigma, a team that is probably on a par with Hibs, although we made them look like Barcelona.

From there it was down the league ziggity-split, and when the monkeys in charge of our club finally sacked McGhee we were sitting joint bottom and staring at the almost certain prospect of relegation for the first time in our history. The fans were vanishing, the players already had disappeared, and we were in a state of massive disarray.

McGhee also made Jerel Ifil, possibly the worst excuse for a footballer I've ever clapped eyes on, one of our highest paid players. His distribution was measurably worse than one of those machines that fire tennis balls at you.

I doubt there's an Aberdeen supporter who doesn't still have nightmares about the McGhee Apocalypse. Statistically our second worst manager in over 100 years of the club's existence, but the case could surely be made that he was for sure the worst bar none.

I wouldn't wish McGhee on Bristol City, mate.

Here's a brief video synopsis for you.

Too young to remember Roy Aitken, Alex Miller and Steve "boot o the car" Paterson then I take it?

Haha.. we've had some beauties of managers. People say we have too high expectations since Fergie, but surely expecting our managers to be slightly better than utter shit isn't asking too much?

Anyway, having been a regular at Pittodrie during the Miller and Aitken years I've still never seen a team so demotivated and disinterested as I have as the shambles of a team we had under McGhee. No fight in them whatsoever and even less ability.

Incidentally, if the jobs up for grabs I'd like to throw MY name into the hat.

Been managing Britol Rovers for a season or two in Championship Manager, and have already got them up a league, knocking Bristol city out of the cup as a bonus ball. You lads'll like that on my resume

Struggling a bit in the 3rd Division, sitting 18th, but I've just acquired Utuhu to start bossing that left wing and send in crosses for Beattie and Bergkamp to get on the end of. We'll be up that table like a thing that rockets up tables.

So I just send my application to the club, aye?

Well, one difference I'm seeing is that we're currently headed up the table rather than down.

Not a big fan of Broon, but he's better than McGhee.

That's pretty debatable though.

We're 9th & playing rangers away next.

We started so bad that up was really the only way we could go.

but yes we're improving a little.

We're defo not as bad as we were under Mcghee. I thought we would lose every game we played under Mcghee, at least Brown has improved that to feeling like we'll draw every game.

& after 23 games played this season & 25 points we're basically one win above that average for the season.

Will we keep this average going & finish with over 38 points?

I'm guessing probably but not by much.

Whilst we were in alot more danger of being relegated under McGhee than any other manager, when you look at the squad that Alex Miller had by comparison...

Leighton (Scotland International & greatest keeper we've ever produced)

Whyte (Scotland International & signed from Middlesbrough)

B. O'Neill (Scotland International & went on to play for Wolfsburg)

Dodds (Scotland International & went on to play for Rangers)

Windass (Went on to play in Premiership for 4 teams)

Winters (Scotland International & signed for a deal totalling

That video always makes me laugh. It also just reminded me that Stuart Duff is now plying his trade in the Maltese League.

Outside factors did conspire against him though but McGhee was a complete disaster.

1) We had a squad full of absolute tossers - Kerr, Maguire, Mulgrew, Diamond..... who basically didn't like the new man who had come in and tried to install some discipline.

2) Budget was cut drastically from Calderwoods last season to McGhee's first. The board never backed their new man.

He still never signed any full backs though. And he had to go.

would have any of them over mcghee, even a permanently pished Paterson

Thats a yes then I take it :)

Aitken and Miller spent more money on 1 player getting us to the bottom of the league than McGhee or Brown has had to spend on their entire squads.

I did not know that, so I thought I'd go on Wikipedia to check (honouring McGhee in doing so)

Duff played three games for Ayr United as a trialist in September 2011. [16] Astonishingly, this led to Duff being handed freedom of the city, as the local people were amazed by his performances both on and off the field.[citation needed]

Stuart Duff was the club's record signing and upon agreeing the deal Qormi F.C. Chairman Mahatma Gandhi expressed his astonishment at securing Duff's services. "After his performances in Scotland, where he scored literally thousands of goals, it is surprising that he chose to play for a club of our small stature. That is the sign of a true gentleman." The
