Russell Anderson Signs!

Recommended Posts

No need to twist anything.

Problem - Lack of full back(s), no width/no creativity.

Solution - Sign centre half.

As I say, I hope deals are imminent to address the current issues.

If there is an opportunity to improve any aspect of the squad it should be taken as and when the correct player becomes available. We are not a massive draw, so should not let good players slip through the net.

Signing a centre half now is a good idea if it means improving what we have or allowing us to free unwanted players.

Brown has said all along he needed 5 windows to to effect the changes needed. There is no point panicking about positions now when things are starting to turn around. There is also still 2 weeks left in this window.

He would say that..It takes him to the end of his contract with us...if he gets binned before that he can say he didn't get the time he needed to turn things round..it's called covering yer arse

Better individual players now but last January our better balance meant we were a better team imo.

I don't think so. We were balanced, but I don't think there was anywhere near as strong a team spirit back then as there is now. One or two additions/changes and you aren't far from a balanced team (as long as people aren't so hung on up on one person having one set position).

I thought he was just saying if he had a better view from his office, he'd be more productive?

I think this current team with Smith, Mcnamee, Folly and Aluko (when he could give a fuck, which wasnt often) would easily finish in the top 4, easily.

Think the last transfer window was an absolute fuck up,

Lets say we had that three additional players, obviously in place of three signed, which I would probably guess would be Fallon, Arnason and Chalali, we'd be stuck with crap up front as soon as Vernon is injured, a weak central midfield and a wide forward who can't be arsed most of the time (I see you omitted the main attacking threat we miss from last year anyways).

We are no better or worse having Osbourne (two seasons regularly playing full back for Coventry) or Jack at right back than McNamee. Left back and the winger is the issue, and in Reynolds we may have the answer to the left back problem so we are the winger short.

Absolutely a few new faces would make a difference to balance but this was blatent in summer and at start of season and it wasn't addressed leading to the unbelievably middle heavy squad we have now struggling. Only 2 points better off than at this stage last season (and no cup semi either) - in fact we need 4 points from next 3 games to be equal with where we were points wise last season.

Our attacking threat has never been worse. Last 3 home games against Hibs, Hearts and Killie we have mustered up 3 shots on target in total, with one of them being a penalty we had to dive to get. In fact in last 5 league games just 9 shots on target which is frankly a disgrace (taking it further 31 shots on target in last 12 league games going back to October). Compare this to St Mirren who have 31 on target in last 5 games or Inverness with 23 on target in 5 games.

Real area we have improved on is goals conceded but taking out the freaks at Parkhead and Tynecastle and there is no difference there either (also have much less injuries in key areas leaving us short than last season).

Huge huge 2 weeks ahead to correct the problems that shouldn't be there from the summertime and can't blame folk for being sceptical.

Aye - premiership teams still havnt finalized their squads yet

5 windows my hoop.

We were a better team last dec / jan than we are now.

Pah! I'd stopped following the Dons by this point last season as things were so poor. We're steadily improving. 2 points off top 6.

:swear:

Spot on K-9

Some deluded folk on here seem to think we have improved alot.

I wont throw my "tup"pence in and name names.

If Broon actually signed a decent wide left midfielder and a right back (we'll have to do with Mark Reynolds at left back in the meantime) then we have the basis of a decent team, certainly one that should be top 6.

I cant get over excited about Russell Anderson. We got the best out of him, got good money. He's played 50 odd games in how many years?!

He was brilliant first time round, but we should've left it at that in my opinion.

Points gained in those five games -

Aberdeen - 8

St Mirren - 5

Inverness - 7

Not much use having shots on target if you can't gain points to go with them.

I think we're showing signs of improving for sure.

When you consider some of the knee jerk nonsense seen just a few weeks ago when folk were dismissing any chance of hitting the top 6, we've done alright since then - shown by egg on a few faces in the last "how many points will we get from the next 6 games" thread.

Egg on faces? We got 12 points out of 24.

Don't think anyone really ended up with egg on faces - even those who thought we would take 18 or more.
