J4MRU
Just heard there was an explosion or something down there, but not sure what caused it? Only thing I heard was a boat refuelling at around 8pm but apart from that.....? Anyone know what's going on?? Link to comment

RUL
That's the rail bridge anyway is it not? Can't work out angles but may even just be the place behind it, a fire burns there constantly at night alighting the sky, burning waste or something. Link to comment
J4MRU
I've heard nothing either, there was talk of an explosion of some sort, but if a fire burns there constantly then maybe it's nothing? Link to comment
Carluke_Hibee
Cracking pic mate, I too heard something about this the other night on Facebook from an Embra friend. I also posted a thread asking about this on HibeesBounce and was informed it is a regular occurrence from gas flames at Mossmoran in Fife. I grew up in Lanarkshire and I recall every night the sky would light up bright orange for many many miles when the tipper trucks empted the slag down onto the heap at Ravenscraig. We used to call it 'the floodlights' when we were playing football in the dark streets, it lit up the streets almost like day time for 20 or 30 seconds at a time. Link to comment

Much brighter than the old lights. http://photosofedinburgh.wordpress.com/2012/03/08/the-forth-bridge-lights/ Are you thinking of the gas flare at Mossmorran. It's inland between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy, not next to the Forth Bridges, but is visible from parts of Edinburgh, especially at night. I don't think there are any fires in the region of the Forth Bridges - the cloud was probably just lit by the bridge lights. Link to comment
