Foster14
Just the result (and I think performance) we needed going in to next week. Think a 1-1 draw was on the cards until Pernis fucked up, but oh well. Vernon and Jack were excellent today in particular I though. Good link up play between the two. Mackie with a "sublime" finish for the first. Had some other good moments, but oh my, he likes to be offside. Dundee United were rolling about all over the place, so I am not too sure about their claims in the first half. Murray seemed intent on breaking up the play as much as possible but at least he largely kept his cards away. If he genuinely though Considine took out Daly (I think he was simulating before there was any contact) he was maybe lucky not to get a second yellow. All in all, pretty chuffed with today. Best football I have seen us play (in person) in quite a while. Bring on the Hibees. Link to comment
Foster14
Oh and one final thing. Today reminded me just how much I love Anderson. Don't think he missed a challenge or header after he came on and was willing to put his head in anywhere. Link to comment
paddy
Clark scored! (albeit a simple tap in from a GK fuckup). Never thought I'd see it with my own eyes. Overall, good performance and a 100% record against the PJM this season. Link to comment
ollie1903
Thought McArdle, for all his flaws at right back, kept Mackay-Steven pretty quiet throughout. Considine was tremendous against Daly until he went off. Reynolds without doing anything spectacular, reads the game so well, and never seems to be second to the ball. Hughes and Rae were excellent.just a pity Rae is lacking pace as he looks to drive forward at every opportunity. He'll be missed next Saturday in my opinion. Mackie may just have played his way in to the team next week with a great finish (honking first touch mind you) and never gave Utd's back line a seconds peace. The Considine injury may just take a massive decision out of Craig Browns hand re the semi final, as Russell Anderson WILL play. All in all, apart from the mid 20 mins or so, where it was a bit of a scrap, I thought we generally played the better football and deserved the victory. Liam
Agree with some points. Think we were the better side over the whole game. United were woeful at the back, surprised at how poor they were, and upfront all their players wanted to do was fall on their arse and start rolling around as if they had been shot. Pretty pathetic. Dont think we were ever really troubled by them. Our back four were solid. If we play like that next week we will have no problems. Chuffed with that. Players wise: Brown: Cant remember him having a save to make. Kept speaking to the back four though. Robertson: One of his better games. Handled a very tricky winger well, and did the basics well. Reynolds: Solid again. Won most headers against a strong Daly. Considine: Also Solid. Having a really good game until he got injured. Fingers crossed it isnt anything serious and he was taken off as a precaution. Mcardle: Much like Robertson did the basics well. Distribution was a bit iffy at times, but on the whole he was firing some great balls into wide areas for Mackie. Clark: Quiet first half. Took his goal well, had to be in that area when Pernis fucked up. Some decent balls in. Rae: Got given MOTM, was surprised, did well mind you. Good at breaking up the play, getting it and giving it. Hughes: I thought he did very well. Only thing he is lacking is match sharpness and a bit of pace. Jack: My MOTM. Superb again. Covered every blade of grass, and won virtually all of his tackles. Also took his goal well. Mackie: Thought he was superb too. Makes some really intelligent runs. Great finish. To me he's earned his place at Hampden next week. Vernon: Same old Vernon. Good link up play. Brilliant player. Subs, Anderson: Dont think he missed a ball when he came on. Brilliant. Arnason and Fyvie: Came in and closed up the game. Just buzzed about. Happy days again, bring on Hibs! Link to comment
Bamber
United players couldnt stay on their feet at all and constantlt went down, twice in the box Murray did himself no favours nor referees by not taking CHEATS to task and booking them. As has been said for the EPL a few strong refereeing performances might mean that for a month or so we have loads of yellows and reds but pretty soon players will realise that they cant get away with CHEATING. Worst of the Bunch was when dunee united were dealing with a ball inthe box and Neilson knocked into our player and threw himself to the ground Murray saw it but ignored it like all the others, yes he played on but by christ Refs you can go back later and book them later I thought Daly was a dive (again) but if it wasnt then it was another yellow surely, On the subjects of yellows was clarks yellow worse than the tackle on Robertsaon dont thinks so On Mackies Yellow, Dundee united player reacts and Mackie gets the yellow with Dillon not even spoken to? 12 vs 11 and Dundee united still couldnt win? chaos_defrost
Please don't tell me Mackie has played his way into next week's starting 11???? Was decent today and deserves his chance. Brown's put others ahead of Mackie and he's worked hard to get back with the right attitude so deserves it imo. Thought there was nothing between the two sides until their keeper dropped the ball for the second. The counter attack where Jack picked the ball up on the edge of his own box was brilliant and it was ashame Vernon couldn't put the chance away. Must admit the chants of 17 years you won fuck all did get to me a bit Link to comment

Brown has made it clear that the other alternatives have no future at the club, so maybe this means that Mackie is part of his future plans. Link to comment

OddJob
Deserved our win today, you only need to look at the BBC stats to see this if you weren't at the game, Utd scored with their ONLY shot on target, says it all really. Have to wonder how the Jutes are so far up the league when you look at their performance today, truly woeful. Completely outplayed in midfield and even when they got their breaks - Murray ensuring they got every 50/50 decision too - they still couldn't cut us open at the back. Hughes & Jack were fantastic today. Hopefully this gives us a boost for next Saturday Link to comment
Liam
forgot to mention there was a fair wad of the unwashed bastards down for the game. Quite a good support until we scored, and then they went silent. tinky cunts though. Link to comment

I didn't cheer Naismith being carried off although given what he had done only moments earlier I don't blame anyone that did. Have never witnessed any singing about Durrant (only been a regular for the last 5 years) so can't comment on that one.. Link to comment

gypsymuffin
I enjoyed the game today. There's been a lot of shit games at Pittodrie this season, but this one wasn't. Really enjoyed it. Good to see Anderson back. Looked assured as ever. Thought Rae deserved the MOTM, played extremely well. That's the biggest utd away support I've seen at Puttodrie in a while, and that includes that game at new year a couple of seasons back. Good confidence booster ahead of next weekend. Link to comment
sooth_stander
I'm seriously done with Aberdeen if he gets a new contract. We all know the club lacks ambition but that would just be unforgivable. FFS min. If he keeps scoring goals like he did today then I don't care if he gets a new contract. As long as Brown takes in a decent striker in the summer to partner Vernon then I'm happy enough for Mackie to get a new contract. A one year one, though Link to comment
