Ke1t
A viable alternative to WWF-esque SPL fixed corruption? Back in the day I saw a fair few Cove Rangers games, and the fact the played in blue and were called Rangers never really bothered me. Currently second in the Heelan League behind Forres Mechanics, and a potential candidate, surely, for future SFL admission... particularly if their gates started to increase and they can step up their quality very slightly. If I were back in Aberdeen I think that would be a very attractive proposition for my Saturday excursions to the fitba. Link to comment
RUL
To be fair, you can't just change team mate? I'm Aberdeen and stuck with it. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
As a central belt scummer sadly I don't have such good options. I'm a walk from livi's ground but wouldn't go along tbh. Link to comment
Lang Bar
There are some teams you just cannot bring yourself to support no matter how local they are.Cove Rangers are one of them. It's a bit like the OF, I generally support anyone who plays against them. Link to comment
MURRA
never know if the huns are liquidised, they might look at coves name and think its the newco. Link to comment

chaos_defrost
If Aberdeen were ever to cease to exist I'd probably want to find another team to support but another team would never really mean anything to me. It's like home, you might live somewhere else and love that place but it could never be the same as home. Link to comment
Ke1t
To be fair, you can't just change team mate? I'm Aberdeen and stuck with it. I used to think that, but I've been ground down to the point that I'm not sure I'd rather watch Aberdeen or Cove when I'm back in Aberdeen next. Last year I went to Hampden rather than watch Aberdeen, although I did cave and go for the 4-0 vs Dunfermline at Pittodrie. If things go the way they appear to be going in the SPL I'll probably spend my cash following Spurs from afar rather than give it to Aberdeen or the SPL. But I know for a fact there will NEVER be a punch-the-air moment following any team but Aberdeen. Even if Spurs won the Champions League with a last second of extra time goal against the Tims my reaction would be akin to winning a fiver on the Bandit at the pub. A sort of muted 'Yay'. Mind you, it's possible that Aberdeen will vote against a Newco and the Huns will rightly be consigned to the 3rd Division... that might rekindle a spark of hope that Scottish Football isn't some corrupt, backwards, third world shithole of a league, run by and for the benefit of one club in particular. That might happen. Link to comment
super_al
This is exactly what i fear if Cove were allowed in the football league. Aberdeen are shooting themselves in the foot by supporting their bid. Link to comment
sheepiekev
Kelt......normally I agree with your posts.... But this time....................it's a no from me. Even if I do give up the football......I won't support another team. Ever. Even if they were in my back garden (yard)It would be golf or nothing for me.But nothing is a distinct possibility Link to comment

I've a full Sports package on cable, I even bought Mexican channels so I could watch Mexican and South American fitba... and while I like fitba I'd agree that the only team that will ever mean anything to me is Aberdeen. If Detroit gets its MLS franchise then I'll be getting a season ticket to the Silverdome, but I know that even sitting in a climate-controlled indoor stadium, sipping beer in my comfy seat, watching cheerleaders shake their shit and tens of thousands of supporters cheering Detroit on... it still won't approach the emotions I've experienced watching Aberdeen. But when the game in Scotland is dead, as it appears to be determined to be, then I'll cut it loose until it gets fixed. In the meantime I'll follow some other mob, albeit with nowhere near the passion. Link to comment
a don in oz
Nothing gives me the excitement and fitba-pinger of a great Aberdeen result and performance. Sure I support Peterhead (family home town and where I stayed the most in Scotland) and if Aberdeen were to go to the wall that's where I'd turn. But the first fitba game I was at was Aberdeen Hearts and I supported Aberdeen first and had my earliest years living there. I'm chuffed when Peterhead do well but when they got relegated I was "well bugger, that's a shame". If Aberdeen got relegated I'd hit the booze hard. Same with Brisbane Roar. I support them because they're my local team now and I'm really chuffed they've got to a second consecutive "grand final" here but if they don't win or struggle (as has been the case most of my time here with Brisbane teams) I rather shrug it off. So... Aberdeen is my fitba love. Peterhead and Brisbane are my fitba bits-on-the-side and every other team can kiss my ballsack; the dirty cheap tarts that they are. (Including English teams that I have zero affiliation with... don't get the falling that way at all) Link to comment
