Car Stereo Problem

Somethings wrong with my radio, when I put it on to FM I can barely hear it even if I turn the volume right up. Can hear MW at a proper volume and the CD player is fine as well. Occasionally it works but more often than not it doesn't. Anyone got a clue what could be wrong with it?

You could check the back of the stereo. The aerial connector maybe loose. If you have the original car radio installed, you will need a pair of keyes to take out the head unit. You can get these at halfords or online. Also worth checking the aerial itself, see if its also not loose.

Yeah I unscrewed the radio earlier and checked connections etc but nothing. Aerial fine as well.

Sell it and buy a new car.

Wiring to the aerial could be corroded somewhere along the line. Could also try plugging in another head unit and see if a similar thing occurs. (Would be best if you had a spare or borrow a mates!)

VWs have a positive feed to the aerial. Check the fuse hasnt gone.
