Changes Afoot At Suit Level

Recommended Posts

Missing off of that is he is the father of Steven Yule, an integral part of the first ever Aberdeen juvenile side to win a Scottish Cup, when Mill United were defeated 2-1 by Deeside Villa at a poky grun in Wishaw in 1986.

Incidentally, I scored the winner.

That's funny he was my manager at Deeside Villa also, I got punted for calling him a bit of a wimp on Northsound. MMmm I can't remember that game?

Wonder if AAM funding in form of loans to club will disappear along with Gilbert?

See looking to offload AAM shares ASAP aswell.

Is he not shareholder in Talltray also?

AAM's shares were diluted a wee while back. I know Jim Cummings is the 2nd largest shareholder (me thinks). But not sure about Talltray. I wonder if all of this has been driven by the banks finance restructuring that was due to be all tied up back in March. It's maybe the case that Gilbert has said no to any future subsidies (or loans) and therefore, Milne has been forced to pick up the slack in a sense... ie buying out Gilbert/AAM.

All in all, this will maybe see Milne putting all his eggs into one basket. Either that, or Yule has investors in place to buy up the spare shares that will be on the market.

Interesting.

As for Chris Gavin, lovely chap and all, but his position was undermined from Day 1. He's been a good bastion for the club, but a fans rep? Nope.

As for Willie - I presume he'll no longer be an employee of the club. His position could be fulfillled by Yule who has good knowledge of both business and footballing matters. Divest Willie's role to someone like Simmie on a fraction of the salary.

Biggest shake up for years, since the exit of Donald for that matter.

With huns all but dead and Hearts in meltdown...has Milne finally woken up to the possibility of AFC actually challenging for a CL place?...have these AAM guys been moved out to make way for real investment coming into the club...or is that extreme wishful thinking... :dontknow:

I think you answered your own question there.....

Aam just want out of afc altogether I think, if anything it's probably the opposite of what you've said

Two ways to look at this...

AFC are trimming the fat in preparation for voting no and the dip in revenue this will bring about...although since Miller is the only one drawing a wage not quite sure why the others have fu*ked off

or

These boys can't get their heads round Milne voting yes and have told him where to go

OR

We are genuinely restructuring and bringing someone new on board who can help more with the new stadium than the people who are leaving?

Everything doesnt have to be a conspiracy you know :lolrangers:

Blackballed.

Preference would be given to someone who goes to the games.

I am the embodiment of Aberdeen FC.

I've seen more Aberdeen games than most on here I'd wager.

Not you possibly, I wisna born when you were my age watching Cup Tie McKay putting Celtic to the sword.

I'd noise them up at board level for sure.

And for that every reason alone, you wouldn't get the job. Chris Gavin was given a basement room, and gagged from uttering anything that remotely undermined Milne and his puppet regime.

Wonder what the future holds for Fraser though.

Are some the guys that are offski , not the ones that were appointed recently to "move the club forward", looks like Milne re arranging the deck chairs..........again

Nope these are all individuals who have overseen the demise of the club in their time here if we are brutal about it.

I assume Miller will continue in some role in the club, just not at board level.

Least that means board remuneration should stay pretty steady as well...

Thats a fair assumption but nothing has been said. Hmmmm.

Well as far as I can see, this is all positive news.

If 4 (maybe 5) suits are stepping down (as in leaving completely) & are being replaced by one suit, then this is certainly a step in the right direction for me.

Will save the club a fortune.

Time will tell but I cannot see them as being much of a loss, especially if Willie Miller is one of the ones leaving.

Just hope they're not getting over inflated redundancy packages :crossfingers:

Don't think it saves any money - just because they are on the board doesn't mean they are paid. Most are shareholders offering their time. Or alternative way of looking at is shareholders happy to take the perks.

Neither IMO.

Personally i've thought we seemed to have a lot of invisible board members anyway. Perhaps they are just not that good?

AAM are a huge company and I'd think Gilbert and Little are very astute businessmen but what were they contributing on the board other than being large shareholders and supporting Milne as Chairman?

Without any specific knowledge its hard to make a case to really defend anyone on the board at Afc over the last 10 years. At the end of the day the results have just not been there on or off the park.

I'm happy to see a fresh impetus from new people but you have to wonder if they are any better than those we had before.

Last question? Where do we think the AAM shares will be headed? Milne? Perhaps Yule and the 2 other new additions from last year?

One would assume Yule is taking on the AAM shares and debt liability...though quite why Yule is plunging a fair "wedge" into a club who have been on a downward spiral for years is beyond me...maybe he's mad?

AAM/Gilbert loaned the club £2.25 million. They were also one of the guarantors for the bank loan.

I suspect AAM are mainly withdrawing because they can no longer justify (assuming they ever could!) an investment in the club. Obviously with the current financial situation, AAM are going through a difficult period and are restructuring the business to focus on the core fund management business rather than making significant investments in particular companies.

Anyway, the full statement on the club website mentions that the shares will be transfered "to other individuals, predominately the new board members (which sounds like Jack and Welsh as well as Yule). Bearing in mind that Gilbert/AAM only had about 40,000 of the 5,500,000 odd AFC shares (Milne has 1.6m).
