I know Scotland are pish but fuck me i think even we would have put on a better showing than the Irish. Fucking dreadful team. Link to comment

Sandafc
Great goal by Balotelli but Spain were boring to watch tonight, to say the least. They certainly werent good tonight but at the same time I dont get the love in for how Croatia played? They didnt attack at all till the second half and only then on the counter. They had to win the game not sit in for so long. Link to comment
Foster14
Casillas is shite Rakitic headed it straight at him. Simple save for any keeper, you'd be disappointed otherwise. If I was being especially critical, you'd maybe not want him putting it straight back in to open play, but think the speed of the header didn't really give him much opportunity to do much else. chaos_defrost
Spain were boring to watch tonight, to say the least. I find them frustrating to watch It's like they think they can score at any time and it's inevitable that they will but they want to make sure the goals they do score are all works of art. They end up pissing about with the ball most of the time and doing absolutely fuck all with it. One thing though is they concede so few because they always have so much of the ball. Link to comment

Up until the 43rd minute, they did not need to win, a draw would of sufficed, then when Italy scored it changed the results required, no point in going gun-ho against Spain in the first half when the no score draw was enough to put them through at that time. Foster14
Thought Croatia got it spot on last night, and if they had just taken one of the two good chances they had in their 15 minutes spell of being by far the better team, Spain could be out now. I certainly don't think Spain are winning this tournament with that back 4. Link to comment

StandFree1982
Croatia v Spain was probably the worst game I've seen in this competition so far. Hard to believe both teams were fighting to ensure they were staying in the competition, although at least Croatia but a bit of fight in at stages. Link to comment

I said to my mate yesterday, for all the possession Spain have they really don't score enough. Remember the last world cup and how they passed teams to death? They weren't great to watch and I think they'll have to score more if they want to win the tournament. Link to comment

The reason they will concede more is because their defence is nowhere near as good as 4 years ago. The lack of penetration is nothing new, they won most games 1-0 at the World Cup. Therefore I still think that my original point is the big thing that has changed, their defence is going to cause them issues later on. Well that, and that Germany have improved with another 2 years of experience. Link to comment

Just like last nights game. to me, they didnt look like world beaters against italy or croatia. they have the creative players to pick holes in any defence but they do rely on luck too. luck of a ref not spotting busquets manhandling someone, a bit of luck when the oppostion defences switches off for a second. that luck wont last forever. and if they play this silly no striker formation i think they lack a plan b. The reason they concede so few isn't just down to their back four, it's their whole style of play, how they press all over the pitch and how they dominate possesion. Biggest worry for Spain imo is scoring goals themselves. Link to comment
