rumpus
The keyboards on modern computers have the 'Qwerty' layout because when it used to be 'ABCDE' the typists of the day used to go so fast that the thin metal arms on typewriters used to get all tangled up and break. The boffins of the day decided to jumble up the letters to slow the girls down. Didn't work though as they just got used to the new set up and go just as fast. There was no point in changing again as the same would happen. Link to comment
