barnared
Noticed after County game that around half of posts were applauding Rae and or Hughes and the other half disagreed. Id like to know what overall opinion is. Link to comment

Read a few posts about jack playing well......im amazed it took brown so long to hook him sorry.....what?????? rae was diabolical. thats a given. but hughes....he did the square root of fuck all. kept running up dead ends. every pass he made was a hollywood one - just about every one was hip height making it hard for the next guy to control it. jack at least got involved, put in tackles and looks to start things off. i think the only reason he came off was because of the yellow and brown not wanting it to turn into a red Link to comment

Too many passes dont go to feet, they go around waist heght and after player gets control of the ball the opposition gets tight again 1 Link to comment
Foster14
I think one or the other should be playing in a game, not both. Especially when we change to a 2 man central midfield. Link to comment

Foster14
I'm not sure if Hughes played all that well. He got right up to support the strikers first half, but did pretty poorly in and around the box. Thought that other than running around a lot he didn't contribute all that much, and certainly looked spent by 65 minutes, as did Rae. I don't think Jack had the best game either. The central midfield had a fair grip on the game but did feck all with it other than pass right to left and back. It was missing some cutting edge in there. Link to comment

Was obvious that hughes job was to get the ball and give it to mcginn / hayes did it well. Unfortunatley those two had a shocker Link to comment
Foster14
McGinn played so central though, it was ridiculous. Even Vernon seemed to go out wide more than he did. I just don't get it. Being able to pass it to wingers nae all that far from you in space hardly qualifies as a good performance... Link to comment
Stoney
Aye but when you look at how poor the rest of our midfield were it was easy to see hughes was the best of a bad bunch. Link to comment
Foster14
Aye but when you look at how poor the rest of our midfield were it was easy to see hughes was the best of a bad bunch. He was also the most knackered and offered little in the last 25 minutes. When we needed the attacking midfielder getting close to Vernon. Hughes or Rae should have been off before Jack because they were both breathing out their arse. Link to comment
tainboy
Jesus stoney. I know you're negative and anti "everything but perfection" But for a team with multiple players who've only had a pre season together I thought the dons played ok. Not great but ok. Against a team who I believe are massively underestimated and were set out to defend and spoil. Jack made some great interceptions. Hughes had at least some penetration that we've been lackingHayes made a few great runs but I think he needs to switch wings more oftenMcginn was alright but not match fitDefensively we were poor. Too many balls making attackers were beating our defenders for paceStrikers had an off day. I pretty sure you've said yourself in the past strikers thrive on confidence. With negative grumpy shites like you berating the team it's little wonder they don't play to their potential and the team fails. Call yourself a supporter? Try supporting. 1 Link to comment
K-9
Thought Hughes was our best player yesterday. Rae on other hand wasn't good but wasn't poor. Jack i thought started well then continually gave ball away, especially in 2nd half and no shock when taken off - certainly everyone around us called that sub. Link to comment

StevieT1986
I just do not rate jack as a centre mid. Much prefer him at right back Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Rae and Hughes as a combination is far too slow. Bring in Milsom for one of them. Link to comment
wilm1542
I would have taken off Rae second half and put on Milsom. Where is he?? Link to comment
Stoney
Looked very very hacked off after game, and rightly so. Our best player yet to play a single second of football and our worst has played every minute. On yersel brown Link to comment

Karl Fletcher
Hughes played well on Saturday, I can't see how anyone can think he was terrible. Funny how we all see the game differently. Link to comment

Karl Fletcher
I'd go with this team on Saturday: ---Clangers--- Ozzy--Anderson--Considine--Naysmith Jack--Rae--Hughes--Milsom Vernon--Hayes Link to comment

oilcat
My worry is that we have no pace in midfield, Rae, Jack and Hughes worry me when we lose posesssion....and far too many square passes We really need to go 442 get Hayes out wide and Pawlet or Fraser on the other wing Link to comment

tommo1903
These two should not be played at the same time, IMO. When Magennis was winning headers in the last 10 minutes, there was only Vernon there for the knockdown. I dont even think Hughes or Rae crossed the halfway line in the last 5 minutes. The offered very little going forward. Jack, Milsom and Hughes, or Jack, Milsom and Rae would work well as a midfield 3. Link to comment

Nelly
Thought Rae was poor in the first half - too many wayward passes & kept getting caught in possession, but he got better in the second half. Hughes was ok, covered a lot of ground but didn't make too much of an impact, he's also the most one footed midfielder I've seen in a long time. Professionals that can't play the ball with both feet seriously get on my nerves. I'd happily bring in Milsom for either of these two, just undecided which one. Link to comment

Hughes looked like he could offer something going forward, but doesn't yet have the fitness to do 90 minutes of box to box. Link to comment
