Interestingly, a wiser head once told me that you can tell the guilty ones from the innocent ones, because the guilty ones having nothing to say after they are convicted (they usually just stare straight ahead). On that basis he's probably the victim of some grave injustice at the hands of the poli.

 

p.s. I've just been researching corruption in american law enforcement. The Rampart Scandal from the early 1990's is particularly interesting - some of the shit those cats got upto was brutal.
