Admin Bebo Posted September 12, 2012 Admin Share Posted September 12, 2012 If it pays for the server costs (do we need to click the links for money to come in?) then leave it. As long as the fucking ad bubble thing doesnt start popping up then its not too annoying. Well it's nice to see i don't have a rebellion on my hands, but really i'm just testing the waters in-case we ever do need to resort to it, which we don't at this stage. I'm planning a week or two max then i'll remove it, unless we end up making bank (unlikely). As for bubble ads, are they appearing? It should just be text links? Anyway as for the iPhone, i jumped ship from Android for various reasons. Their media handling and syncing was absolute pish. iTunes makes things seamless and far too convenient. I was reliant on the network operator to push delayed OS updates that were months old. Much prefer iOS, especially when jailbroken. I felt incredibly let down with android. Promised great things but never delivered. Of course, things are ever changing and i'll evaluate which ever device is available when i come to get a new phone. You should never pick sides or show brand loyalty to consumer electronics. Only pick the best which suits you at the time. Only sith deal in absolutes. Link to comment
fifered
Samsung S3 in combination with Spotify Premium, for me, negates the iTunes stranglehold on the iPhone. Ridiculous to see that, essentially, all you've ended up with is a bigger screen. Hardware wise, the S3 is still superior to the iPhone 5 despite being older. Is spotify good? Never used it, I use easyphonetunes app to move itunes playlists to my galaxy so I still have to buy tunes through apple. is there much difference in the price of music between them and is there plenty choice? Thing is, when its time for an upgrade/new phone you dont know what you're getting until you've got it... There are a lot of apps I use daily on my IPhone which I'd get seriously pissed off about losing or if they were seriously different and thats the sort of things you'll only ever find out after a few weeks of owning your new phone. By then its too late to change your mind. I'll have to get hold of an SIII and play about with it for a couple of hours before making a 2 year commitment to a new lump of gadgetness. Link to comment

dj_bollocks
I use my ipod to keep my music. And keep my phone for everything else. Ipod usually sits in my car unless I'm away on long journeys somewhere using other transport. If I'm listening to music in the house I'll play it through my computer. Blimey... I thought that was just me... Link to comment

Henry
not really just want the best, as per No, I reckon you've been taken in by their marketing, yet again. 'Look at this shiny new phone folks, it's very slightly bigger than the one in your pocket, but it is a new product! You need it in your life now!' Didn't expect you to be taken in so easily MT. Henry
APPLE has changed its strategy to creating products that people had no idea they were not interested in. Since 2001 the hi-tech giant has made gadgets that were the result of firing secret lasers into the public subconscious to find out humanity's unrealised desires. But with the launch of the iPhone 5 the company has once again broken all the rules by creating a product that no-one expected to be incredibly unimpressive. Julian Cook, who gets paid to have an opinion about smartphones, said: "They have obviously worked out what I know I want, which is this Link to comment
tup
We managed fine without mobiles before they were invented, I'd like to see a return of the days when the pub phone rings and half a dozen voices shout they're not here. This would only work if the person calling was looking for a group of people, like on Scooby Doo. ''They're not here'' say the pub regulars, in chorus, before getting back to their drinks, satisfied that the bad guys are not going to storm the pub dressed as motorised lizards. Of course if it was a return to the days when the wife phoned looking for her man that you were referring to, the half a dozen men would of course say ''I'm not here'' instead, as saying ''they're not here'' would make it sound like they were schizophrenic, leading to even more grief from the downtrodden wife than they would have got in any case. Usually get my phone with my 2-yearly contract... but on the odd occasion, when I'm really unhappy with my phone, I might buy a different one and get it activated for my number. Rezound is pretty terrible. Seriously considering shelving it and buying something that isn't shit. Link to comment

Works out cheaper for me in the long run. I bought my iPhone 4s outright when it came out and use Giffgaff. (unlimited text, unlimited internets for £10) Even factoring in the cost of the phone and the rolling contract with GG, it ends up cheaper over 12 months compared to a 12/18-24 contract. Or at least was for me when i did the math at the time. Link to comment

You found it to be ok so far? Did you change your number?I got a phone call from Talk Talk, who I get my broadband from, offering me a mobile phone deal. It wasn't quite as good as what I have now so said no. But then it's even more competition these days. Giffgaff have been brilliant. It shares O2's network (it's owned by O2 but ran independently as far as i know). Kept my own number, just took a day to port over. Link to comment
Iraq_Red
On Giffgaff as well and I will look to do the same with my new phone, buy it outright. Still not 100% convinced about the signal I get with them though, Vodafone is better I feel. Going to go past the Apple Store (iStore?) on the 21st and take pics of the loosers queuing up for the iPhone 5 Link to comment
