Assassins Creed 2

It's pretty hard to impress me when it comes to the Video Games. Generally if I'm going to play a game it's a strategy game, thought I did go through a period of a couple of weeks where I was shooting shit up in one of those FPS shooters that they have on the computers these days. You've seen them, the FPS shooters with the running around in a virtual world with the guns, and the 10 year old kids with teamspeak or vent... you've seen the online shooters, with the guns and the American accents... the FPS shooters... with all the guns and grenades and the spawn points and the camping... you've seen them, the online FPS shooters....

Anyway, I gave up on them because frankly I was shite at them.. those online FPS shooters that they have these days, on the computers there.

Anyway, I picked up that Assassins Creed 2. And it's fucking brilliant.

Anyone played through this?

I think I'm about to go and kill the Pope.

In the game, like... not in reality. That would be mental killing the Pope in reality...

Anyone there played through this one, or played the others?

Thinking about getting Brotherhood after I finish this one.

I always wanted to play AC since the first one but I was too involved in Call Of Duty ( as mentioned above) so I never bothered with AC. Well up until a few weeks ago I purchased AC Revalations per owned for a tenner whilst wondering round the games / music section.

I agree it's a terrific game, although I can only compare to "Revalations".

I downloaded Revelations, played for a few hours and got hooked. It's amazing how immersive the storyline is, and just wandering through the streets of Constantinople is amazing.

In fact it got me motivated to start reading up on the history of the Ottoman Empire, a part of European history I'd largely neglected. First book I've bought to specifically cover the subject of the Ottomans was The Decline and Fall of the Ottoman Empire, thanks purely to Revelations' influence. I'm trying to get hold of some audio histories inna, though the one that caught my eye was written by a chick, and I've long since discovered that chicks generally lack the ability to create a decent narrative.

Possibly it's the historical aspect of the AC games that gets me interested, but it's rare that a game captures the imagination like the AC games can.

Last game to do that was Manic Miner, when I spent 6 weeks digging holes in my Old Dear's garden.

I bought this year's ago and got as far as the car park bit and thought "why did I buy another assassins creed game. The first one was a repetitive piece of shit.", I turned it off and never played it again. I assume this one isn't a repetitive piece of shit that has you having to ride a horse across endless lots of fuck all to get from city to city?

You can "Fast Travel" from city to city and to various other places in the map on AC3, you still have to do a lot of horse riding to get around the frontier though.
