Redmist1903
I think we'll have Brooner for another year anyway as I've a gut feeling that by the end of the season he'll have earned it In failing that we need continuity so I would like to see Jocky Scott kept on as a coach and a younger manager taken in. Adams is not really my cup of tea to be honest, I'd prefer to see how he and his team do this season before backing him. Eric Black would be my choice if available. John Collins would mildly excite me as well. Brown has made the club a better option for a new manager to come to now, he's leaving a much better squad than the one he inherited that's for sure. tup
Eric Black with his glittering managerial career of having been sacked by almost every club he's been at. A glorified janitor. What a coup he would be. Link to comment

He's been in Scottish fitba before and got sacked in less than a season at Celtic. Misty eyed nonsense about the 83 team landed us in the shit before with McGhee. Yet here we are again, dewy-eyed nostalgia from doddery old mannies about heroes of yesteryear is not going to help us now. Let it go. Link to comment

He's held two management positions as a stand alone manager and been sacked from one of them (despite him having over a 45% win rate). I remember when he was manager at Motherwell that his team played decent football and he had a real eye for a player and decent European contacts for player recruitment. I would expect his contacts in the game have increased since then. He is highly respected in the game. My personal opinion is that he would be a successful manager in Scotland if he decided to give it another go with a team up here. 1 Link to comment
tup
He had one flukey run of wins at Coventry and suddenly he's the new Arrigo Sacchi. He's been found out bigtime before and since, and he disna have the first clue about Scottish football. We absolutely must secure our next manager from within Scotland. Link to comment

tup
Why's that now? Because it's the Aberdeen way. What we did during the Anderson/Donald years was source the best available talent from smaller teams than us from within Scotland. It's an absolutely foolproof plan. Going foreign is courting disaster and that includes England and christ knows we've had our fingers severely burned in the past doing things that way but still we dinna seem to learn anything. Steve Paterson was a disaster because he was an alkie, not because it's a bad idea to source your manager from a smaller Scottish club. In terms of good young Scottish managers who know the scene, Derek Adams is the standout. Link to comment

tup
Give me John Collins then. No, you're not getting it here, he's not done anything in management either. I'm talking about someone who is in a job in Scottish football who is doing well, a promotion if you like. It's basic common sense, and that's what Anderson and Donald did, they were not miracle workers, simply pragmatic, measured individuals. Link to comment

What you are not getting is that I have no reason to believe Adams will ever amount to anything more than an average manager. If you want an average team then go for Adams IMO. I would rather we stayed away from him to be honest. I would maybe look at him again at the end of the season but he's far from a stick on in my opinion. Lets see where we are under Broon and how Adams has got on this season. At the minute I believe the Aberdeen job is too big for him and he hasn't got a big enough personality for the job. I'd rather keep Broon for another Season and see who's availible then. Link to comment

How can the job possibly be 'too big' for him if he's never given the opportunity? Fergie started at East Stirling, by your measure he would not have been considered for the Dons job from that role. He then went to St Mirren and revitalised them, and got the job at Aberdeen. Football management is not complicated, you're either good or you're not. Adams has worked absolute wonders at Ross County as they have no right whatsoever to be in the SPL when you look at their resources. Link to comment
