Redstar
Langfield positioning was terrible as mentioned on another thread. A yard further over and thats a corner at worst.Langfield is and never will be up to the task of being anything more than an average SPL/First Div keeper...If AFC are looking to push on for a top 3 place a replacement needs to be identified and purchased in Jan...fact Link to comment
Stoney
Simple google search of Goalkeeping positioning and even further to that, at angled shots will show several diagrams of where the keeper should be, If langfields in the correct position thats never going to lead to a goal, not even with him in the sticks. Foster14
Some guy standing about 3 along from me did a full vomit right in the middle of the Shed at HT. Thank fuck I don't have a sense of smell is all I can say about that. As for the game, decent showing from both sides. Disappointed by Reynolds for the goal. Probably should have been about 3-all, if not for wastefulness by both sides and some decent saves. Anderson's tackle on Russell at 1-0 is about as good a defensive tackle as you'll see this year. tup
Not only does he tackle Russell brilliantly, he also goes straight up the other end and almost scores with a header. He's an inspiration to young viewers, my loon was awestruck at him flattening Russell, and then nearly scoring. Although he was also confused as I was calling Anderson by his forename, good tackle Russell, on Russell of course. My loon is saying 'I thought Russell played for Dundee Utd', I'm saying he does, but that's Russell as in his second name is Russell, I'm talking about Russell as in first name Russell, all very confusing for a five year old. 1 Link to comment

tommo1903
Anderson was tremendous on Saturday. Reynolds was pish, as was Chris Clark. Robertson looked more composed than I remember him being. A few more games like that under his belt that I would admit to being wrong about him. Link to comment

The Boofon
Chris Clark. Clark get to fuck and shut your mouth. If he could hear the McGinn song then perhaps a song about Chris Clark retiring from football with immediate effect is in order this weekend. CONFIDENT Chris Clark insists on-form Aberdeen can be serious title challengers to Celtic. The defiant Dons stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games after coming from behind in Saturday’s rip-roaring New Firm derby with rivals Dundee United at Tannadice as the Pittodrie bangwagon gained further momentum. Craig Brown’s rejuvenated Reds’ only defeat this season came way back on the opening day of the campaign when they went down 1-0 at Parkhead after a freak mistake by keeper Jamie Langfield was all that separated the sides. New-look Aberdeen have since stepped up the gears and are now sitting third top of the SPL with Clark convinced they have got what it takes to mount a serious fight for the flag alongside the current champions. Clark said: “I think we can be contenders. “We’re on a good run of form and have actually been unlucky with some of the draws we’ve had in the league. “But as long as we keep doing the right things and stick to that I’m sure we can challenge strongly. “We’ve put ourselves in a pretty strong position in the league. When you see who can come into the team, with the likes of Ryan Jack injured, it’s certainly healthy. “The players have slotted in well and I think it gives the manager a good problem to have in terms of selection. “We’ve got to concentrate on maintaining this unbeaten run. There’s belief among the squad that we can keep it going. “We’re preparing really well for games and I think that shines through for all to see when it comes to a Saturday.” Aberdeen left lively Tannadice with a deserved point thanks to red-hot Niall McGinn’s fourth SPL goal in a row. Dundee Utd's Johnny Russell (front) battles with Mark Reynolds Dundee Utd's Johnny Russell (front) battles with Mark Reynolds It came early in the second half to cancel out John Rankin’s first-half opener for the Arabs who proved they’re in a false early-season league position. The equaliser rounded off a dream week for the former Celtic star who hit the headlines when he almost stole the limelight from Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in his 100th cap for Northern Ireland. McGinn gave Michael O’Neill’s minnows a shock lead in Porto before the hosts hit back to snatch a draw in their World Cup qualifier. The in-from winger had the boisterous travelling support chanting his name in comparison with Ronaldo during Saturday’s showdown following his exploits abroad and Clark insists he’s entitled to bask in his glory. Clark said: “Niall’s had a great week. “Everyone is delighted for him and he deserves all the praise he gets. “We could hear the fans singing about him and Cristiano Ronaldo in the warm-up and it was all good banter. “He has scored four SPL goals in a row now which shows the kind of confidence he has in himself. “And obviously his goal against Portugal helped him enormously. He has been excellent. He has put in a lot of work and won’t let himself get carried away by anything. “Niall’s a down-to-earth lad anyway and as long as he keeps on doing the business for Aberdeen we’ll all be happy.” Aberdeen were forced to crawl through traffic pre-match after the A90 was closed due to a serious incident. It gave them little time to prepare before kick-off which was delayed until 3.15pm. But Clark refused to use that as an excuse and felt the visitors could even have drawn first blood prior to Rankin breaking the deadlock. Clark said: “There was no time for a pre-match meal because of the delay in circumstances. “We knew it was going to be a later kick-off so we just had to get our heads down and try to prepare as normal as possible. “The plan was to leave after 12 noon but that was obviously scuppered by what happened. “We got to the ground just after 2.30pm and to be honest, I’m surprised the game was delayed only until 3.15pm “It was all a bit of a rush. It wasn’t the normal sort of build-up and we were all in a bit of a hurry to get stripped and ready. “I don’t think it really affected us though and the way we went about the game. “It was all about attitude and commitment. “We started the game really well in the first 20 minutes and even when they scored, I actually thought we had looked the more likely side to open the scoring.” Aberdeen’s 4000 strong band of supporters headed back north happy to see their side keep their unbeaten run and their sizeable turn-out showed just how strong their potential is when things are going well. Clark paid tribute to the Red Army and assured them everyone is champing at the bit to bring them some long overdue success to the North/East. He said: “I really enjoyed the game. It’s always nice to play in a fixture like this which means so much to both clubs. “The fans and the players always look forward to this New Firm derby as you could see by the very healthy attendance. “Our supporters came down here in great numbers because for us this is a derby match. “We know the fans relish this game and they helped us come back from 1-0 down to get a share of the points by cheering us on. “Personally, I’m just trying to keep myself fit. I’ve had a few friendlies and I just want to take it on from here. “There’s strong competition for places. Everyone wants to play their part and that keeps us all on our toes.” Link to comment
minijc
Watched the highlights, great positioning from McGinn, superb tackle from Anderson and a great header too, unlucky not to score, bounce for the goal looked ace. Link to comment
muttonhumper
Langfield positioning was terrible as mentioned on another thread. A yard further over and thats a corner at worst.Apart from his positioning being awry, he was also guilty of lying on the ground after the parry.Noticed that while it was on the news just now. Seriously. He lies on the fleer as if his job is done with the initial parry, then wkaens up when realising it's went to an opponent who has mis-kicked the ball back towards goal.Had he moved to his feet from blocking the shot, he would have saved the follow up from Rankin no bother at all. So to sum up.To blame in: 1) His postioning2) Putting the ball back into the danger area3) Not reacting quickly enough I'm a fair man though.Criticism and credit where due. He made a great block in the 2nd half close in when I thought it was a certain goal for Utd. Link to comment
Tord31
I hate Langfield and was raging when he got picked in the first game but still think over the piece we still better with him in than Jason Brown as although he makes less errors he does concede some shots that Langfield saves. I'm not convinced Brown would have made those three saves for us to beat Dunfermline 1-0. New keeper January or more realistically summer is on the wishlist Link to comment
ChookterDon
The Centenary has always attracted the zoomers of our support but it's defo been getting worse. The video last year is embarassing, weegie like behaviour, i'm not saying it is the weegies of our support but it's that kind of behaviour. Still get a good sing song in other pubs without resorting to half wrecking the place.I went to go up and the door staff said it was closed due to 10 grands worth of damage earlier in the day and riot police having to be called....
