Aberdeen -V- St Mirren

Recommended Posts

Jack and Considine oot for this one. Milsom, Naysmith, Jason Brown and Fallon all in full training and pressing to be included. Shows we have a strong squad at the moment. Robertson, Rae and Hughes all one booking away from a cup match suspension.

Langfield

Osbourne Anderson Reynolds Robertson

Hughes Clark Rae

Fraser Vernon McGinn

subs: Rogers, Naysmith, Magennis, Hayes, Milsom

stand by: Brown, Shaunnessey, Brown, Smith, McManus

Prediction: 2-1 Dons, Vernon and Anderson

No way can Hughes and Rae be expected to play 3 games a week. Drop one to the bench, put Ozzy in Midfield in their place, Megennis at right back. I'd be tempted to give Fraser a rest as well and start Hayes instead. I'd give Naysmith a run out as well.

Why do people keep putting Vernon in their starting team.

The guy is so off form it's a joke

Give someone else a chance you silly old man, you don't have to play him cause he is on the highest wage (thief)

Is he aye? Would have thought Anderson, Naysmith, Rae and Hughes would be on higher than Vernon. Also, do you know how much he is on?

I'd still keep him in as there is no-one else unless Smith is given a start which I think is unlikely as Broon seems cautious about playing the boy.

I think Hayes will be on more also & he's getting dropped for Clark FFS! :banghead:

Why not - they are professional footballers?

Anderson on other hand has to ice his knee after every game and would maybe have sat this one out if Considine had been fit.

I think that team would win with some spare in the tank. I would prefer to see the young loon in goals instead of the traffic cone, but know that's never going to happen. Josh and Vernon sittiong there like coiled springs (?!) ready to come on if neeed be.

I didna really survey the midfield options for the bench but I plain flat out refuse to have Chris Clark anywhere near the squad.

Just a waste of a jersey and how he started that game on Saturday after his woeful attempt at "footballing" last week at Tannadice only Craig Brown can answer.

Hopefully his substitution on Saturday is an indication that we've maybe saw the last of him.

Punt him on loan to Peterheid in January.

The midfield options are there. If someone gets injured / needs to come off. Isaac up to midfield, Josh in at the back; or McGinn dropping back, Vernon on. The attractiveness of that squad was all about the exclusion of Chris Clark. A local loon who has given his all - but we've been stung holding on to those types before. I'm a local loon and would give my all - doesn't merit me a starting place for The Dandies though.

In any game I've been to this season I've thought Rae looks leggy and one paced, like he's running through treacle at times. I thought he was laboured on Saturday. Some folk have also noticed this and have commented that his legs are gone. For that reason I think three games a week is too much for him.

I thought Hughes put in a power of work on Saturday and was really impressive but with his ability to pick up strains and niggles I also think him playing at 100% capacity for 3 games in a week is a bit of an ask.

I agree with you re-Anderson and would have had Considine on in his place against St Mirren but since Considine is injured I didn't think it was a observation worth making.

Rae's contribution can not be underestimated. He's been integral to us getting to where we're at right now.

How has me saying that anytime I have seen Rae this season he has looked leggy and one paced underestimating his contribution?

I appreciate he has played his part in getting us where we currently are, that doesn't mean he hasn't looked leggy and one paced any time I've watched him this season.

Will St Mirren come up here and try and have go? heard a few pundits on Sport sound claiming that they try to play a passing game instead of sitting deep and punting it.

Would normally have said yes they would take the game to Aberdeen but wondering if a couple of bad defeats will mean they change their game.
