We're Going To Win The League

Recommended Posts

Aye you must be scratching yer napper today...biggest away win for yonks and your mate Gav nowhere near the team...as before Rae flatters to decieve, he's obviously a player but his legs are gone...great with the trap and the sideways ball...sometimes even pops up with a goal... but there is a better midfield starting line up....I'd use him off the bench or move him back as CB cover.

I witnessed Clarks performance yesterday. If you honestly think he is a better option in the centre of our midfield then you know even less about football than I thought you did. And that's not a lot.

Controversial I know but I'd happily see Hibs win today to keep the pressure on Celtic at the top. The best thing for the SPL right now would be both Hibs and us keeping neck and neck with Celtic.

Also with the 2 of us chasing the pressure on Celtic is greater - if Hibs or us drop points some weekend the likelyhood is the other team will be able to keep the pressure on. I'm thinking 2 of us need to keep up there and then when it comes down to settling the final positions we need to earn the right to be above Hibs by beating them and/or being the more consistent team.

Indeed if St Johnstone can somehow get another win against Celtic they will join us at the top and this would also be a good thing - more power to them if they do (although I don't think they will).

'mon the Hibs. 'mon the Saintees.

Ha ha...No I haven't seen how he played but the result indicates that the team were set up with more attacking threat than we usually have...I've had numerous pops at Rae,mainly because of his hun roots, but I do think he is a player...just more of a defense minded one rather than attacking...as before at this time in his career we may get more from him as a CB.

Correct.

Clark was shit yesterday.

Utter shit.

He's only near the team because Jack, Hughes, Rae & Milsom are all injured.

I'd rather even one of the young lads from the U-20's got a game...Jordon Brown or Stephen O'Neill maybe?

Clark will get eaten alive by Wanyama and/or Brown if he plays.

By my reckoning it's precisely 20 years since I last felt this positive about Aberdeen; sure it was November '92 we whipped Partick 7-0 on a snowy tuesday night, swiftly followed by hammering Hearts 6-2 the next saturday

20 fuckin years! :omg:

ah that 6-2 hammering, that waqs the game that paul mason curled home a fantastic 20 yarder in to Henry Smiths top corner i was sat in South Stand right behind knew it was going in when he struck it, that was also the game i was verbally attacked by the Paul kane fan club ( both members)

Sorry to bump this back up, but today was a good indicator that we are miles from being anywhere near to winning the league.

Centre halfs at full back.

Players like Clark and Magennis playing 90 minutes.

Little self belief.

Celtic were poor, had more injuries than us and one eye on Champs League and we weren't anywhere near bettering them anywhere on the park.

Reality check time.

This thread should be binned!

It's still there. Yes we were poor, but we were without a lot of key players and Celtic will more than likely drop points further on on the season. We won't win the league by beating Celtic, we'll win the league by beating teams that we should beat and sneaking up on them, just like anyone else would have to do.

Without injuries, we have one of the beat starting elevens in the league and we can still do something this year.

Yeah, fuck optimism eh? We've just been beaten by a team with what... 4x... 5x our wage bill! We had a lot of players out today and it's obvious that we can dominate games after last week with teams where we are closer in budget.

P.S. It's called supporting your team for a reason.

I think we have zero chance of sustaining a league challenge with the likes of the Langfields, Clarks and Magennis's hanging around.

:suicide::suicide::suicide:

Welcome to Sky Sports.

It's Langfield, Clark and Magennis FFS.

Sloppy.

Very sloppy.

It just bugs the shit out of me when folk say shit like that Ollie. It's nothing personal.

I would say it's the other way around.

If we were to win the league, those head to heads would be the must win games.

Par example.

We are 4 points behind Celtic. We have lost twice to them.

Had we managed to beat them twice instead, we'd be 8 points clear of them.

Even with 2 draws we'd have been above them by 2 points. :clangers2:

Fair point looking at ifs and buts but the sad fact is, that if Celtic want to beat us, they will. This was a massive game. Much bigger than St Johnstone or whoever else has taken points off them this season. They just had the quality in Wanyama for us to shit ourselves and almost win the game for Celtic before they'd even done anything.

He looks like a brilliant player, no doubt about that

I'm trying to interpret what you mean, but I'm struggling?

There is no need to add an s onto Langfield, Clark and Magennis. We have one of each. We don't have Langfields or Clarks.

The pricks on Sky Sports do it all the time when they speak about players and teams. ANdy Townshend is another prick who does it all the time and mentions the Gerrards, Rooneys and Lampards of the English game. It's using English language in a horrible way and needs stamped out.

That's it basically.

It annoys the fuck out of me. Almost as much as the improper use of the word literally.

After we beat Killie to move within 2 points of Celtic I set the target of stay within 3 points of Celtic until the game against them.

If we want to be challengers this year then the new target I'm going to set is (giving Celtic the win in their game in hand i.e. the lead is 7pts) knock one point off and be within at least 6 points of them at the end of december. Three of te next five are at home we should be able to get a few points while Celtic have to go to hearts, killie and hibs and have struggled at home this season.

It is do-able to stay in touch.

I like your positivity Tord31.

Some of our fans would do well to try and be positive regardless of how fucking doom mongering their attitude is.

We'll beat Hibs next week and then hopefully push on.

Although I wouldn't bet on us winning the league there is no point writing off the team as you never know what's round the corner.

Craig Brown is right Celtic will win the league BUT if anyone could be less than 10 adrift with 10 to go, theyve got a fucking real real chance.

Tord, do you really think if the Tims were 9-10 points ahead in mid-late March they'd lose the league?

The League is so tight that I wouldn't see any other team being capable of winning say 7-8 games in a row.

I think the Tims will put the hammer down in the SPL from early December to mid February when they don't have any European distractions.

By the time they are back in Champions League or Europa League action I reckon they'll be at least 10 ahead.

I reckon if say Hibs were 9 points behind with ten games to go then too right theyd have a right good chance. If Hibs turned up to Pittodrie with the bit between their teeth and 4000 fans AFC would meekly bend over. I think a team could take nigh on full points in a run in if they can get to the end game is the question

Nae so sure anyone is good enough to be honest.

i dont think celtic will not win the league

but before the season started i'd never have thought celtic would have the LEAST goals scored at home in the whole division and barely in top six on home form, so you just never know

We'll see. I hope you are right.

I just think they'll pull away from Dec-Feb when they've no European distractions.
