The Boofon
He's thus far proved me wrong.I'd written him off and never in s million years did i expect this level of performance from him.Keep it up min.Definite POTY atm.Nonsense. Vernon on Saturday's performance alone is worth POTY. Link to comment

StandFree1982
That second goal, the one against St Johnstone is an absolute gem. He'll score a lot more of these type of goals if he keeps his confidence up. He made some good runs against Celtic and almost got through on a few occasions. I'll be amazed if we keep him for 3 more years if he continues performing the way he has lately. Link to comment
The Hulk
What an improvement in this man Is he our player of the year so far? He's scored our most important goals this season. I'd say yes. But...Barry Robson has had an enormous part in our forward play this season. He's the missing link in my opinion. We haven't had a player with his creative killer instinct quite probably since we had Eoin Jess. I might've said Jamie Smith but I think Robson is better. The way he brings others into play is just superb. Take Pawlett's goal on Saturday for example - brilliant, but simple improvisation from Robson to leave Pawlett with the easy bit. It shows you how easy football can be if you've got it in your brain. But yes, Pawlett's contribution this season has been brilliant. Link to comment

Pawletts movement to get into that position, the way he chested it down perfectly into his stride and the finish were first class, there was very little room for error in any of those three. I wouldn't have said it was the easy bit! Link to comment

Wouldn't say it was the easy bit think most of the strikers we've had recently would have missed, difficult chance to beat the keeper and a center half from that angle. I don't know how soon he'll go though I think deek will show him what's happened to players like andrew shinnie down south and tell him couple years in europe make yourself one of the best players in the league then leave when you're ready. RDU_64
Pawlett has been unbelievable this season. A complete revelation. For a player that was so injury prone and seemingly looked like he is was on his way out, the confidence and new role DM has given him has made him a new player. I think he in our top 5 for minutes played this season. He's such an asset in the middle of the park where he can take the ball at our end and if he can get into his stride, start an attack. The way he glides past players like he did for his goal against St Johnstone is something that you see nearly every week. He's such an asset to have in the side especially playing just behind the striker, he really excels in that position. So far, Pawlett is just a nose ahead of Reynolds for player of the season IMHO. Stoney
Between him and reynolds for me, Perhaps siding with Reynolds as he has a far bigger task covering. And he has a goalie to babysit Link to comment

I wouldn't have said it was the easy bit! Of course, I agree with you (and newcastlered), it was a careless figure of speech but I imagine you get what I mean. When you have players on the same wavelength as Robson and Pawlett obviously were/are, it makes everything look so simple, when in fact it is magnificent vision, skill and penetration. Others have mentioned an understanding between Hayes & Rooney. When you have these wee groups in your team it can be truly magical. I promise you I'm taking nothing away from anyone was a great finish from Pawlett, a player I've admired for a long time. Link to comment

And he has a goalie to babysit Certainly between those two for me as well but imo Pawlett shades it.He's without doubt our "most improved" player & YPOTY & is (at the moment) our POTY as well (even without the goals he's scored). Pawlett has been involved in far more of our creative play than the likes of Robson, Hayes & McGinn. We're only now seeing the best from both Robson & Hayes (Hayes now that he's played on the left) & Robson now that he's fully settled since his injury early on but McGinn has still got "some" improving to do again to get anywhere close to last season, even though admittedly he's being used differently this season. Yes it's been a fantastice overall TEAM effort but without Pawlett I certainly don't think we'd be doing anywhare near as well as we are. Same goes for Reynolds though for sure but we can cope without the likes of either of the other three. We do have a fantastic squad right now though. One to really be proud of again. Good to be a Dandy again. Thank you Deek, you are a real breath of fresh air to our long time stale club. Link to comment
tommo1903
Robson has missed too much of the season to be considered POTY at this stage. If he plays the majority of the rest of the campaign he'd probably make top 3. Pawlett shades it for me over Reynolds, just. Link to comment
barassie_afc
His overall performance has improved dramatically in last few months. The headless chicken stuff seems to be a thing of the past, his technique seems to have improved. It might just be something as simple as self belief. I think there is much more to come Link to comment
Bigslick
The most exciting thing about watching Pawlett this season for me is the ability he has to turn defence into attack so quickly, he is the reason our counter attacking is so good. He also has an uncanny ability to knock the ball 3 or 4 yards in front of him and make the defenders think they have a chance of getting the ball and going to ground, but nearly all of the time Pawlett is there first and knocks the ball past them. Also he seems to have grown during the close season, when he first stepped onto the pitch this season I hardly recognised him, this has given him more confidence to "mix it" with other players rather than going to ground. Without a doubt POTY so far for me. Link to comment
StandFree1982
Attacking players will always come away with more plaudits from fans than the no nonsense defenders, it's also why the most expensive players in the world are either strikers or attacking midfielders. Both Reynolds and Pawlett have been instrumental in our progress this season and it's difficult to really give a prize to one or the other because our team needs both. Link to comment
The_Next_Legend
Anyone else scared of someone coming in and bidding for him in the summer? And lets face it, if a big enough offer comes in Aberdeen are propbably in no position to decline.. The way he is going i reckon he is on for Young player of the year... dont think any other young player from the rest of the league has been as consistent as him Link to comment
buchanskii
Andrew Robertson at Utd and McGinn at St Mirren are probably in with a shout, both good players. Edit - May at St Johnstone, all with a chunce Link to comment
StandFree1982
Ryan fucking Gauld will end up with YPOTY. He'll be there, holding the medal high, with every journalist south of Stonehaven with their cocks out masturbating furiously at him. Link to comment
newcastlered
I'd rather someone like Gauld got YPOTY while it'll add on a couple of grand to his transfer fee it means english scouts and celtic will leave pawlett alone. Link to comment
Tord31
Pawlett and Reynolds the front runners for player of the year. Probably at the moment it would be Anderson and Hayes next in line imo. Amazing to think if Pawlett had been out of contract in the summer past he may well have been released - it certainly didn't seem like his career was going anyway. Brilliant turnaround and also started the season on the bench and got straight in when Robson went off injured in the first game. How would his season have panned out if Robson had not got injured and if Wylde had grasped his chance in pre-season as McInnes most probably intended GW to be ahead of Pawlett in the pecking order back in June, although by July/August of course that had changed. fine-n-dandy
See what is a massive credit to our squad & McInnes is the fact that Flood was Utd's best player the season before we signed him & he's probably only been our 4th, or 5th best.Flood has been great for us (don't get me wrong) but Pawlett & Reynolds have been a lot better & he's fighting it out with Robson, Hayes, Anderson Jack etc. for the other place ratings. Shame for Considine getting his injuries because he'd also be in amongst the running with the also rans. Link to comment
boboisared
you think jacks been one of our best players? LAWLDepends what you're after Frankie. Although he's went a bit off the boil he was definitely one of our most consistent performers before the turn of the year. He's also due some credit for the defensive record as he doesn't often lose the ball needlessly. Link to comment
