European Football Fails To Deliver

Recommended Posts

A wee trail through the national leagues shows in the top league of Greece, Denmark, Northern Ireland, Spain, England, Scotland, Germany and Austria the top team leads by 10 points or more, add Portugal and Switzerland where there appear to be a gruesome twosome ahead of the rest.

Not guilty currently are Wales, Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

I haven't looked at Eastern Europe.

UEFA are ultimately responsible for this and it would suggest that the situation in scotland dire though it is is not a unique problem and though the bigotry of the scottish duopoly is probably a local feature the fatted calf and favoured sons appear to be a european problem. I suspect that the reason will simply be unfair monetary distribution. A radical solution is the only answer - each league should tot up its total income and divide it evenly amongst all clubs - let the better teams get the reward and glory of Europe but not the money. Let the national setup prosper.
