Dynamo
Think the reasons given are actually quite good. Richard Donald Stand upper deck worked fine during the 90's the ultras destroyed the atmosphere and now want to get it back. Bizarre. Section Y.........FAIL Would have been good to give it a go. The Merkland stand is embarrassingly empty for 75% of games. If they are planning on continuing with the free tickets to schools then fair enough as for the Motherwell game it was pretty full. Tbh though, you not think AFC has loads of fans who will back things online, but when it comes to the crunch will be making excuses of why they can't manage etc? Look on Aberdeen Mad, almost universal support for that section yet I bet if it came to giving it a go hardly anyone would bother. But we'll never know... Link to comment

tup
We don't Stand Free anymore anyway. Nowadays we actively seek out unemployed staunch huns for senior positions at the club. 3 Link to comment
Dynamo
From what I can see it sounds like the club listened but just didn't agree for the reasons given. Yule getting called everything. If everyone moaning about this was that bothered then they'd have joined in previous attempts and it might have worked, instead of wailing about it on the internet..Exactly. Link to comment
Karl Fletcher
Block S in the South Stand works well as a singing section sometimes. I remember it used to be a total bounce in the upper deck of the RDS, scarily quiet these days. Link to comment

IMO merkland should be free for any kid, regardless if they are with an adult or not. Give the tickets away try and get some interest going. Aye just look at how many people said they were going to the calderwood protest, ended up about 50-100 of us! Rather than the hundreds on here who said they would go. Link to comment

Stoney
why can't they make the lower RDS the family section? better stand to bring kids to anyway. The merkalnd is a fucking shit hole Club see that as premium seating, its the best quality in the stadium and its the one they can get away with charging higher end prices for. I take the point though. No reason it cant be. Link to comment
fatshaft
Dunno if this is the right thread....anyway, there was support from various groups iit seems to get a singing section of some sort in the Merkland stand (best stand for it)...which I see the club has knocked back. No shock there then, the club listening to the fans is probably a bit much to ask. Seems like that's exactly what they've done surely? Have you read this at all? Link to comment
tup
Whole ground is a shithole and an embarrassment to us as a club because we became obsessed with corporatocracy in favour of actually looking after stuff like the ground and the team which is what a football club is supposed to do. We've lost sight of what we are meant to be doing. Link to comment

Football certainly didnt help but my last two seasons in the top deck it was so petty with one side of the stand not joining in with the songs if they didnt start it. Was the same at away games, Rather then everybody singing together groups would only sing songs that they had started. In saying that the atmosphere at the dunfermline home friday nighter last year was pretty decent. Link to comment
K-9
Singing sections this season managed maximum 80-100 fans so club never going to hand over a whole stand moving out hundreds of season ticket holders. Link to comment
