Niall Mcginn - Signs Extension Until 2016

Recommended Posts

I was totally underwhelmed by Derek McInnes's appointment but I tell you something, he seems a shrewd guy who has never put a foot wrong since he has came to our club. Everytime he has spoke he has impressed me, the last few days especially he has gone up in my estimations with releasing all the injury prone old dross, telling Steven Hughes he can leave, saying we need a new keeper as the recently signed guy was shite, now this:

Manager Derek McInnes commented. "As far as I am concerned Niall is going to be the big summer signing for Aberdeen FC and hopefully this sends out the correct signal to not only our supporters but also to any other players who are potentially thinking about signing for this great Club."

Well done to all involved in getting this done quickly and quietly.

Niall can head off to Vegas secure in the knowledge he's made a lot of Dandies happy.

I wonder if there's a decent release clause inserted, where we'll get a decent money for a change. (provided he keeps his form up)

When is he off to Vegas?

Wonderful news.

I'll echo what's been said above, McInnes has cut an impressive figure so far and for "phase one" of the task he's been set he has passed with distinction. Can now go into the summer with some cautious optimism with regard to who he brings in, and beyond that of course how they perform in the side. I wont judge his signings on paper until they do it where it's important.

Nice one Del and nice one AFC! :trophy:

I don't mind losing players if we receive a decent fee for them.

If we get 1 more cracking season for McGinn and lose him to a championship club for a decent amount of money then everyone wins.

Lets hope he can do something about the paltry fee's we normally receive for our players.

Delighted that there is no more Hughes or Fallon; a challenger for clangers no.1 spot and McGinn has signed.

Great Start

This is the first time that I am more than content with a manager saying that a player already on our books will be a big summer signing. McGinn committing his future to the club makes a big difference as there is no way we would find a replacement on his level.

A cracking player and lad.

With a little bit more consistency (decision making wise) and if he bulked up his frame a tad I don't doubt he could play in the EPL.

I think it's a strong possibility.

If a Championship club come in for him, I don't think we're in a financial position not to sell (by the bank)

£750k - gone.

To be honest, we should offer him an extension and if he refuses to sign it, we should maybe look to sell, as we can't afford to let him go for nothing at the end of his contract, or a pittance in January.

Sad, but that's where we are as a club

Sheepish this thread was started almost two months ago.

Well played with the prediction. How the fuck did you know it was going to be a two year deal?

What you said could be me. Totally unimpressed with his appointment. But he's not put a foot wrong so far.

He's used these games to try and judge the players and he's found them largely wanting like most of us feel.

And then this.... totally awesome.

Mind you a big part of that has to go to Niall; he's obviously a genuine guy who is thankful to the club for giving him his proper opportunity to shine.
