He seems to be saying/doing the right things so far in regards to training, playing staff, recruitment etc, Monday will tell us if he's the man to tak us forward or if he's just another in a long line of failures.

I wouldn't read too much into what happens on Monday. Depending on who he includes they ought to be playing out of their skins to prove something to him. I'm hopeful of better times but I'd say wait until December to judge him properly.

Right, so if we don't win on Monday it'll tell you he's going to be a failure?

:clangers2:

No but it'll let us see what type o manager he is, if he attacks etc. I'll give him the same amount of time i gave to Broon.

I want McInnes to succeed & return some pride & maybe a trophy or 2 to the club.

He has already announced himself as a failure by refusing to take charge for two of our more important games of the season, through fear, instead allowing Brown to meander on without meaning in the dugout.

A stronger manager would have simply refused to countenance such a preposterous scenario.

What's the alternative. No point or risk in doing anything else.

What else was he going to say?

He chickened out?

He didna want to offend Brown?

He's not exactly showing strength of character to tolerate the situation at all is the point I'm making, a better and stronger and more confident manager would have refused.

There are parallels with Southend, they wanted to leave Sturrock in the dugout for their cup final, but Phil Brown simply refused, and they backed down.

McInnes could and should have done likewise. The portents are not good.

This has nothing to do with the Old Firm, who don't exist, so I'm not sure where you draw that parallel from, possibly a figment of your own imagination.

I fully agree that to wait for almost a month was a stupid move, whatever his motives or pressures were. But it's a bit early to condemn him as a failure just for that. For now, let's just let it go, and see what he brings to the party on Monday.

All new managers bring a sense of optimism. Hopefully it will remain for the few games to play before the end of the season.

So fucking apathetic about this game. Hope Hughes doesn't suddenly turn it on for last five games to secure his place for next season. Keep/release/list players based on performances until now, not based on five games where some are suddenly shiting themselves that there's a new gaffer in town who might not blindly accept their shite.

So he didn't "refuse" at all then?

Nobody knows so that's a stupid question to ask, the point is he could have objected, strongly, he did not, ergo that is a poor reflection on his aptitude.

Yes, you are right, nobody knows what went on there. Maybe he was just a victim of the Brown charisma effect, and he sensed that there was a huge wave of emotion at the club, so upsetting Brown was not an option if he wanted to get off to a smooth start.

Dinna give me that shite I've already explained to you that not objecting strongly is tantamount to refusal, a basic point which you fail to grasp entirely before getting on your high horse.

You've been up his arse since day one. Be prepared for when it goes wrong because your card is marked for that sickening hun sycophancy.

I'm not taking any lesson from it, anyone with a hint of gumption can see that what I'm saying is correct.

Your defence of a staunch sevconian proves that you don't understand what following the Dons is all about.

Your delight in the Champions League progress of Celtic emphasises this.

You can pay as much money as you want, and attend until you're, pardon the pun, blue in the face.

You will never reach my level.

Usually if folk refuse something, they're asked and say no.

That didn't happen

You have no idea whether it happened or not as I already told you.

The silence from the club about the matter speaks volumes.

That means that telling the truth would bring embarrassment.

Are you suggesting they did not even consult the new manager about the decision?

My point exactly, all you are doing is adding emphasis to it with your pro-hun waffle.

He would have liked to have come in sooner ffs!

He should have demanded it.

Why did he not demand it is the question he should have been asked at that point.

The Daily Record et al dinna exactly have a reputation for grilling hardcore sevconians on the issues of the day though do they?

Aberdeen 4 - Hibs 3

I'm thinking along these lines also.

Been ages since we had a goal ridden game like that & our last 1000 games against Hibs have been low or no scoring boring shitey games.

I hope we win 7-6 & McInnes sees the real Clangers but we still win & McGinn gets two hatricks & another goal as well cos I don't know if septuptrick is a real wrord.

Whatever the result is in our favour, the main thing is to see a resurgent, attacking Aberdeen side that is brimming with confidence and flair. I hope to be celebrating that tomorrow evening.

They are not qualities typical of a Derek McInnes side, but fingers crossed.

I remember his St Johnstone team being "functional"
