Dynamo
I like how the club are using the 3/4 of fans prefer to sit in more populated areas of the stadium as a justification for this... Link to comment
gla5gowdon
I agree with TWL here. RDU is part of our best stand and should not be closed. Club obviously listening to the wrong fans again! I'm pretty sure you've complained about the atmosphere generated in the RDU fizzling out into the sky before? Shall we just pile everyone into the RDS then? I don't see what's so offensive about it other than the fact that it's almost accepting mediocrity. Link to comment
boboisared
TWL obviously is unable or unwilling to see the bigger picture here. The reasons you are listing as to why you are pissed off are truly pathetic, aren't you a grown man ffs? A spoilt brat who has obviously never been told 'No' before in his life. A spoilt brat? I'm a paying customer of AFC and have been for over 30 years. I think that means that the company who has those loyal customers, need to think long and hard about putting measures in place, that pisses off the hand that feeds them. I think it's all of you that are being blinkered - but then, there's no need to be debating this with anyone else other than AFC. At the end of the day, it's them that are in danger of losing custom. If someone was that upset about being asked to move to another seat at discount and threw the sort of strop that you have then they'd be the least of my concerns. Loyal customer or not. Link to comment
tup
I don't think Stoney does actually agree with you TWL min, he's just stringing you along, for his own personal reaction goading satisfaction. In reality, I don't think he gives a fuck, so I'd withdraw your hallelujah if I were you. Link to comment

Guest
If you really want to support your team you will sit anywhere ! Jesus wept. AFC's crowds have dwindled for years now. They need to do everything in their power to give us a good reason to turn up each week. Shuuting down an area of the stadium is not going to improve matters for those that are 50/50 on whether to go and watch the Dons. I used to turn up regardless, but not any more. I have other concerns in my life now - mostly 3 kids and a wife. I'd have happily sat on a cactus plant 15-20 years ago, to follow the Dons. But life changes mate - people's outlooks change. Of the 6 ST holders thinking on not renewing now, we're all in our 40's. Not in our teens, not in our 20's. We have other things that say to us, hey, we're being treated like shit here - our opinion has not been taken into consideration. Look at the bigger picture - not just what you want to see. AFC NEED US... NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! Link to comment
gla5gowdon
I think TWL is one of these lads that shows up at St. Mirren on a Wednesday night and demands to sit in the seat he has a ticket for when the whole away end is more or less empty. 4 Link to comment

10MenWent2Mow
Logical move in my opinion. Used to sit up there but would now far rather sit in the South Stand or main stand. Those throwing the toys out really need to grow up. My old dear has to move seats in the South any time the ugly sisters are in town and doesn't throw a huge tantrum about it. It won't make any difference to atmosphere, granted, but when was the last time anyone was at a run of the mill SPL game where the home support generated much noise. If half a dozen folk choose not to renew I'm sure the savings that the club make on stewarding etc will outweigh that. Link to comment

Nope not me, Nothing wrong with the RDU, the only thing that killed the atmosphere was the pish poor performances on the park. Fuck all wrong with the acoustics!!!! Link to comment
Henry
you lot are absolute idiots were not seling off the top half, were closing it for now because approximately only 40 people go up there there is NO issue here at all - its a sensible thing to do And a petty 15% (£30 - equates to one free game and a free cold pie thrown in for good measure) of discount, is not enough to temper those grievances. Expensive cold pies these days. 1 Link to comment

Guest
Yes, cause it's only me that hold these opinions. That's the trouble with trying to hold a reasoned debate on something using internet forums. Like trying to push water uphill. Final say on the subject as I'm tired of replying to those not interested in debating the valid points I make. Of those that I sit with (6), we are all middle aged, professional workers, and have been following the Dons for many a year. We've used to go to all away games as well as Euro matches. Now for all 6 of us, to hold the same opinion, must surely paint it's own picture. It's not so much about the fact that we have to move - it's the method, the manner and the justification for doing so, that the club have given. It has, dare I say it, been the final nail in AFC's coffin. That may sound strange to some of you and I don't seek to change your opinion. All I ask is that you look outside of your aspect on this matter and try and compare a similar situation in life that would have you thinking along the same lines. Scottish football in general is dying - AFC has been on a life support machine for over a decade. It doesn't take much 'blue sky' thinking to realise that one hammer blow too many, is going to turn folk off for good. Those who I sit with and myself, have kids who are the future lifeblood of AFC support. So it's not just about me, my friends and anyone else in the RDU who are being treated with such disregard. It's the future generation of Dons support that they risk losing as well. Them's the facts folks. Try and put yourself in someone else's shoes for just the odd moment or two. Link to comment
spamspamspam
The last 3 managers have said the away support should be moved as it gives the visiting team a bit of a boost when they come out of the corner of the main/dickie and see their own fans cheering them on right in front of them. Just a pity there isnt a way to get the away fans up to the top tier. Link to comment

Out of interest, is there anywhere else in the ground you can get away with standing the whole game? Back rows of the South/RDL? Haha, this was my first thought aswell. Was at the back of the South for a cup game last season and if you stood for more than five seconds you got looked at like you'd just wiped your arse on the Mona Lisa. I think even back row in the SS you're told to sit down by the stewards pretty quickly. Nah they always seem to stand as well as those in section Y. Don't seem to get any hassle. Link to comment

Just make the left hand stairway for away fans and only let them in those two turnstiles on the left hand side of the stand. Then put the straight up the stairs. Link to comment

Just a pity there isnt a way to get the away fans up to the top tier. Could manage that. Steps at the South Stand End are separate from the Concourse area, aren't they? Close off access to the RDL rear and have away fans go straight up. Think there may be other reasons why that would not be preferred though. Link to comment
tup
Can you imagine the level of fuss if these away fans threw stuff at TWL and his five middle aged pals in their new seats they didna want to move to in the RDL from the RDU? From the seats that they used to sit in? These folk would spontaneously combust with righteous indignation. 1 Link to comment

StandFree1982
I've sat in pretty much every area of that stadium and the RDS Upper is definitely not where i'd have a season ticket again. It did have a really good atmosphere for a while, but that wasn;t down to the stand, it was down to the people. Link to comment
