Kennedy was a tremendous player, held in very high regard by Alex Ferguson himself. But for me McKimmie is probably the best right back to have served the club in my lifetime. Made sure he did his job for the team first and foremost, defend. Full back should be a simple position to play, but you've got to get the basics right. It makes me laugh when I see Shaughnessy and Robertson at fullback, of course both are capable footballers - but neither has a natural instinct to defend (in my opinion).

McKimmie for me.

I'd go with Kennedy, career finished early due to injury but think he was better as a right back than McKimmie - and a better human being too. Either would stroll into todays team with both hands tied behind their backs whilst hopping.

For me McKimmie

Some folk might say Kennedy because McKimmie talks shite in the EE.

As a player, McKimmie was better all round.

Kennedy got in great positions, but a lot of his crosses ended up behind the goals!

Plus McKimmie could play left back and sweeper.

I think it was McKimmie that started the trend of "good to have about the place"

McKimmie for me

I can't compare as never saw Kennedy.

However, McKimmie was absolute class, and hard as nails in the tackle as well, a truly superb full back, remember his winner against the World Champions at Hampden, he was my favourite player after my first Dons game at Pittodrie, Jan 1988 against the Jutes(in that funny wee stand between beach end and Main) and remained my favourite until Jess took over!

From Gordon Strachan's "career influencing" XI

Right back - Stuart Kennedy

We had a great relationship together and we worked well. He helped me become a better player and hopefully I helped him to be a good right-back.

In his mind, he was the best right-back the world has ever seen, so I have to take a bit of credit for making him the best right-back ever. He worked hard, he had this mindset that nobody could beat him. If somebody did beat him, it would be the fault of nature that he couldn't deal with, it was an act of God.

He certainly deteriorated badly at the end. I always remember him going to the Jutes, he was very bitter about it, and said he was going to a bigger club, he then proceeded to play utter gash for his entire spell there, the best display being when I think it was Negri scored 5 against them at Mordor, each goal McKimmie is falling about or doing something that caused the goal including one where he actually runs into his own player and knocks him over as Negri puts it in!

However, in his prime at Aberdeen he was superb!
