sheepiekev
Who was better - anyone under 30 need not bother as you are too young and won't properly remember either as McKimmie left in 1997 or thereabouts Link to comment
daytripping
I thought Kennedy was a great defender but can't help but remember him as someone who quite often went for a run down the wing with the ball but his crosses never came to anything, for me McKimmie was the better all round player. tightbreeks
kennedy, he invented the marauding full back. Link to comment
sheepiekev
For me McKimmieSome folk might say Kennedy because McKimmie talks shite in the EE. As a player, McKimmie was better all round. Kennedy got in great positions, but a lot of his crosses ended up behind the goals! Plus McKimmie could play left back and sweeper. 1 Link to comment

CtS
Kennedy was a tremendous player, held in very high regard by Alex Ferguson himself. But for me McKimmie is probably the best right back to have served the club in my lifetime. Made sure he did his job for the team first and foremost, defend. Full back should be a simple position to play, but you've got to get the basics right. It makes me laugh when I see Shaughnessy and Robertson at fullback, of course both are capable footballers - but neither has a natural instinct to defend (in my opinion). McKimmie for me. ChutneyLove
Tightest one so far. Kennedy shades it for the 'tache. Link to comment

Crossbow
I'd go with Kennedy, career finished early due to injury but think he was better as a right back than McKimmie - and a better human being too. Either would stroll into todays team with both hands tied behind their backs whilst hopping. Link to comment

oilcat
Kennedy by a country mile And Kennedy would have chinned the hale of the South Stand nae stuck the v's up at them like McKimmie Link to comment
Kilkito
I can't compare as never saw Kennedy. However, McKimmie was absolute class, and hard as nails in the tackle as well, a truly superb full back, remember his winner against the World Champions at Hampden, he was my favourite player after my first Dons game at Pittodrie, Jan 1988 against the Jutes(in that funny wee stand between beach end and Main) and remained my favourite until Jess took over! WillemVan
Kennedy was before my time but I remember McKimmie well and loved him as a player. He had a great partnership with Bett, those two seemed to be on exactly the same wavelength. Mckimmie at right back and David Robertson at left back.....ah the memories. Link to comment
E-P-K
With Mckimmie, I always remember his goal for Scotland, his only goal, the winning goal against the then World Champions, Argentina in 1990. Link to comment
muttonhumper
From Gordon Strachan's "career influencing" XI Right back - Stuart KennedyWe had a great relationship together and we worked well. He helped me become a better player and hopefully I helped him to be a good right-back.In his mind, he was the best right-back the world has ever seen, so I have to take a bit of credit for making him the best right-back ever. He worked hard, he had this mindset that nobody could beat him. If somebody did beat him, it would be the fault of nature that he couldn't deal with, it was an act of God. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22373839 Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
As before. Mckimmie for versatility. Kennedy for doing the utmost with what he had. Surprised no-one has mentioned Kev McNaughton in similar vein. Jesus thinking back, Hughes, Robertson, Rougvie, McMaster. We've had some incredible full backs in our time. And David Winnie.... lazio_don
Kennedy just shades it for me, plus McKimmie seems to get a kickout of slagging the club, not very respectful in the slightest. Link to comment

muttonhumper
who almost captained us to relegation. Couldn't stand the twat. Indeed. He was definitely sub standard towards the end of his AFC career. Not doubting how good he was prior to that...but the last 2 or 3 years he was a poor, poor player. Link to comment
Kilkito
He certainly deteriorated badly at the end. I always remember him going to the Jutes, he was very bitter about it, and said he was going to a bigger club, he then proceeded to play utter gash for his entire spell there, the best display being when I think it was Negri scored 5 against them at Mordor, each goal McKimmie is falling about or doing something that caused the goal including one where he actually runs into his own player and knocks him over as Negri puts it in! However, in his prime at Aberdeen he was superb! Link to comment
ZeroTolerance
It is a close call but McKimmie for me ..... just. He was just a bit more effective than Kennedy. Link to comment
