madjockmcferson
I won #80GBP on Stavrum finishing top 3 in scoring charts on a #5GBP bet ( I think) so I have a soft spot for him but Dodds was clearly a class player. Stavrum is almost a goal every other game (over 50 apps) and Dodds is 1 in 3 over 150 games, so tough to call on stats alone. Stavrum left because his contract said he could - that isnt his fault. Both of them were very good but you would have to pick Dodds over Stavrum. Link to comment
Rubinho Escocia
Stavrum for me - I remember him as a goal scorer whilst I remember Dodds as someone who ran around a lot and needed a lot of chances to score; kinda like Kenny Miller for Scotland. Like someone said earlier I wasn't bothered when Dodds left and actually thought he was a pretty average player. However, he went on to do well at both United and Rangers while Winters didn't like up to his early promise so I think people often remember him as being really good for us. Link to comment

Class, is certainly not a word I would use to describe Dodds's footballing ability. Link to comment
tightbreeks
not sure who had better hair.when dodds scored and ran away from the camera, his hair fairly bounced.stavrum had that scandanavian point break thing going on, I can see him with a leather a-ha wrist strap. tough call. Link to comment
sheepiekev
Stavrum was a better finisher. Dodds was mainly all effort and running, with little natural ability and plenty of missed chances to goals scored. I'd pick Stavrum, even though any game in which he played never properly started until he was caught offside Link to comment
peahead
One known as like a fish on bicycle the other for having big ears , wee billy dodds for me all day long, scored the two in the cup semi in 95 semi against the Huns , and in the final , and one of the ( whilst sad indictment) most important goals in our history at tynecastle to help ensure the season in the red zone wasn't to end as drop zone . The fact he still speaks up for Aberdeen and the fans whilst some may say is cheap and easy - I don't doubt his affection for the club ! Link to comment
ChutneyLove
Winters had worse offside stats than Stavrum. You noticed Stavrum more often because of the reaction he used to have when flagged. He used to run a very tight line - and was very good at it. He was quite often onside when flagged off. 1 Link to comment
tightbreeks
dodds' gals against the huns were magic, just perfect timing, shite midweek in Glasgow. one of the few semi-recent games that you were grateful to be there. Link to comment
Ke1t
I can't remember Stavrum not being technically proficient. He could trap and pass a ball, his first touch was good and he generally got his shots on target or close to the target. What technical failings did he have? Mackie is an example of not technically proficient. Link to comment
ZeroTolerance
Stavrum, an intelligent player in a poor side. Dodds, a headless chicken that "worked hard". 1 Link to comment
