muttonhumper
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has announced that Rory Fallon, Mitch Megginson, Rob Milsom, Gary Naysmith, Isaac Osbourne, Gavin Rae and Dan Twardzik will not be offered new contracts when their current deals expire at the end of the month while midfielders Stephen Hughes and Jordon Brown have been informed that they are free to look for a new club. The club can also confirm youngsters Scott MacAulay, Zach Szemis, Stuart Close and Jamie Hamilton will be leaving the club. http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20130513/dons-release-seven_2212158_3177366? Edit Derek also confirmed that striker Josh Magennis will be offered a new deal. Link to comment
Tord31
By the looks of things McInnes clearly sees the problems in the midfield area. Would rather have seen Magennis released but meh. Frickin' delighted we had option to bin Twardzik that didn't seem to be common knowledge Link to comment
altogi
Agree with all of them And I imagine that with Ozzy, Hughesm Naysmith, Rae, Milsom and Fallon gone that will free up a decent amount of wages money for him to use and I imagine that with Ozzy, Hughesm Naysmith, Rae, Milsom and Fallon gone that will free up a decent amount of wages money for him to use. Nelly
had to google Twardzik to remind myself who he was! No point keeping injured players so agree with the list, surprised that Clark wasn't incuded as he hasn't exactly contributed this past year. Link to comment

Sonoftherock
Worrying that he seems to rate Magennis... although it fits in with his assessment of Ricky Foster. Neither are footballers. Just hardworking runners. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.... On the plus side, glad to see Rae and Hughes are being forced out. Our central midfield has been atrocious this year - absolute passengers - only Mark Kerr and Gary McDonald have been worse! Scotty Arfield and Murray Davidson for next season please. Link to comment

He's on a 3 year contract and no team in their right mind would pay to take him off our hands! We're stuck with him I'm afraid, draining some much need resources! Link to comment
Sheeptastic
Certainly impressed by Del's boldness to make those calls but not sure I agree 100% with them. I would have offered Milsom and Ozzy one year deals (perhaps on reduced terms) and wouldn't have held on to Magennis. Link to comment

Magennis performance against Celtic is maybe the reason he is staying along with because he's young i would think he's on a lesser wage than others. Link to comment
ebbe
shame for milsom and osbourne in particular as those two fit would stroll into our starting 11. they are injured far to often so I wish them all the best. glad twardzik is leaving although I wish It was that other goon with the gloves. hopefully mcinnes signs an able number 1 in the summer. I have no idea what magennis has done to be offered a new deal, strange decision. finally with that amount of bodies leaving hopefully we see a good few new faces in the summer. Link to comment
Tord31
Clark's broken leg probably saved him from the cull. Could be a late contender for the traditional AFC transfer deadline day pay someone to fuck off although obviously there are two clear favourites now for the August payday. Link to comment

With Pittodrie currently a drain on our ever dwindling resources, maybe the plan is to pull out of the SPL next season and enter a 5-a-side team at Goals in Bridge of Dee instead. Link to comment

dandydonsfan
good news. Agree with all those decisions by McInnes. Shame for Osborne, as he's a class act. But too injury prone for us. We've not got a big enough squad to keep players like that who are likely to be injured more than available. Magennis deserves another year as a utility squad player, not least as he'll be cheap. Karl Fletcher
Isn't Hughes still under contract? Either way, delighted we'll never have to see that waster in an Aberdeen shirt again. Link to comment

Mikeyboy1903
If McInnes has any thought process, He should be aiming for some of the Motherwell players. Not that we could do anything to entice them but they are on peanuts at motherwell ... Link to comment
paddy
Great news. Poor Twardzik, Pa Broon brought him in at the start of the year (supposedly on a 2 year deal wasn't it ??) and he will never get a game. I think it just goes to show he was a lazy signing. Hughes is another who has a weird contract situation...seems he is on some sort of rolling contract or something. Thank god we are letting him go. Absolute shite Jordon Brown, never really saw him but a few on here said he showed promise. Lot's of youth players dont make it though. Forfar will maybe keep him. Link to comment
Tommy
Certainly a statement of intent.Hopefully he's done his homework and has started negotiations with replacements. He's growing on me. Link to comment

It looks like full backs, a central midfielder and a winger to come. Link to comment

King Street Loon
Not happy at Magennis getting an extension, should he sign it of course.Would have liked Izzy to stay, but suspect personal reasons behind this one.The rest are too injury prone, slow or old and not good enough. So can't really complain. Some legacy Brown left us with :-/ Link to comment
Monkey
Hughes has been told he is free to find another club, this would suggest he is still under contract and has been told he's not going to be playing next year. It remains to be see whether we would release him at the end of the summer if he can't get a free transfer elsewhere or if we would keep him as back up. He could sit tight on his current deal if he wanted. Link to comment

barassie_afc
I had a bit of faith in Mcinnes, but for anyone to make an assessment and decide Josh Mcgennis has the requisite footballing ability to drive Aberdeen forward , is quite frankly bonkers. Poor decision 3 1 Link to comment
The Boofon
Depends what his new deal actually is. Tenner a week to stand in goals while the strikers fire balls at his head. Link to comment
