ericblack4boss
Was my first though too. However - the story goes - that he's going to be paid next to nothing. Didn't add up for me, particularly as he'll surely have been collecting a decent wedge at Sheff United. However, maybe he just wants to spend some time near his family.that will please the landlord at the Comercial in Inverurie, another of the Robson clan to add to the clientel! Link to comment

King Street Loon
My sauce says it's still going to happen.Fair enough.I don't doubt you. I just don't understand the logic behind this signing. We're suffering from a chronic lack of movement, creativity and mobility as it is. Link to comment

Might be worth a punt. Not saying he will, but he might be. Link to comment

gla5gowdon
Hmm, probably still good with a dead ball and has a good dig. If he looks fit enough in pre-season, don't see the harm in a year deal. Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Should take him as an individual but I can't help but think back to the success of signing McNamara, Hartley, Rae & Hughes etc... past it!! Link to comment
OddJob
this is the thing i know its an extreme example, but Moravcik is an example of how older players should not all be tarred with the hughes/naysmith brush who knows if it'd work out or not, but comparing him to those signings is just lazy That's a good point mate, however you could just tell he was a class player early doors. Not saying Robson hasn't had his moments but nowhere near the same ability Link to comment
360
Flood and Robson? I think we'll go for Stephen McManus next. Link to comment
Edinburgh_sheep
Brewster was decent for us. Just saying ... Link to comment
ollie1903
We have released every player from the slowest midfield in AFC's history to replace them with someone even slower. Ace Link to comment
Dynamo
Looks like Karl Fletcher's been on a scouting mission http://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/barry-robson.30297/#post-502309 Link to comment
Ke1t
A once-good player who's probably past it and looking for one final pay day to top off his Torremolinos Retirement Fund. Well, it worked before with Jackie McNamara, Paul Hartley, Mike Newell, Noel Whelan, Youl Mawene, Steven Hughes and Gavin Rae, so why WOULDN'T anyone be excited about the signing of Robson, who used to be good and is now 34, will be 35 during the course of next season, and on the decline, with zero sell-on value. I may have to go change my underpants with the excitement if we sign him. No, really, I think it's a great idea. Link to comment

I know... thats why I'm saying I SHOULD take him as an individual.... But with this one I just get the impression he wants to move back home and sees this as his last pay cheque while he does so. He will in fact be signing for us 10 years late... I remember being raging when he chased the Morning, Noon & Night cash to sign for the Arabs http://www.dundeeunitedfc.co.uk/index.asp?tm=3&nid=1314&cd=2003&cd1=5 Came across this thread when google searching for the above link... http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=196&fid=101&sty=2&act=1&mid=2112667757 It's actually quite amusing from the tinky bastards and I'm struggling to argue with most of it. I particularly like this comment: "Aberdeen's scouting system involves a boy throwing a dart at old United team photos blindfolded. You'd think after Kerr, Duff and Miller they'd at least remove the blindfold." Link to comment
ericblack4boss
looks like the ranch in inverurie will be adding another Robson to the clientel list then as for comparing him to Moravick i would think thats the biggest complimnet he has ever been paid. Link to comment

Agree with this As long as he has someome - Flood? to do his running for him in midfield. Gavin Rae I thought was decent in the first half of the season but faded - Robson is technically better than Rae, so hopefully he could have something to offer as well as helping along players like Jack and Smith. I posted a while back that I thought McInnes would bring in a older player or two from the EPL or Championship - I think we can expect another - possibly a goalkeeper Link to comment
Huntlysheep
FFS he's here for one last payday he's done, McInnes is taking a step backwards, hope he's on small wages. Link to comment
