Barry Robson

If we have Flood and Hayes in the team then I'd be using our width to create chances... so 4-4-2 for my money would be better than 433.

Of course that leaves two spots in the middle, so maybe Jack in the middle alongside grampa Robson?

That wouldn't be too bad, if we could find a replacement for Robson immediately after he signs for us.

Of course with 'Stellar Signing' Chris Clark waiting to come back, and Stephen Hughes also not leaving of his own volition, we'll have a plethora of ageing and not particularly good midfielders all fighting for chances to play in the middle.

still find it hard to believe that we have two wingers in the team who are recognised as such.

Flood won't be used wide right though.

Why not?

He'll be played centrally.

I think we'll be 4-3-3 next season.

Midfield 3 of Jack, Flood & Robson

Front 3 of McGinn & Hayes either side of whatever striker the manager signs.

Don't think we'll play 4-4-2 much, so no wide midfielders.

Flood has predominantly played centrally for Dundee Ushited as well laterly

Not happy with this at all. We never seem to learn. Living in Canada I watch him a bit last year. Not the player he used to be.

There is a reason, the likes of Motherwell continue to perform better than us - they stay away from this type of signing.

I'll give him a chance to prove me wrong, but as I've said, it smacks of someone just topping up their pension whilst moving his family back "home".

I'd much rather we pushed the boat out on a younger, ambitious player who will see Aberdeen both as a step up and a stepping stone to even better things.

I'd have liked us to push the boat out to get Paul McGowan.

Talk of him re-signing with St Mirren....we could've doubled what they pay him near enough.

A midfield of Jack, Flood & McGowan would've been good.

That's certainly a possibility.

Then again, so is 442, with two wide players making the running while our slow-as-shit midfield plays a more holding role.

I thought you meant McInnes had said something about his intent for next season.

I think Flood said something in his Red TV interview along the lines of "you'll see me in central midfield", which made me think that's the role the manager had outlined to him?

Who knows - we'll find out soon enough.

Don't panic though, Hughes won't find anyone daft enough to take him so he'll still be around, and Chris Clark will be free of injury for the new season.

I'd prefer to see Hayes used on the wing rather than an out and out striker, and balance that with someone on the opposite side who isn't Chris Clark... if not Flood then Jack. Flood, from what I've seen, is a niggly wee bastard so could very well be used in the middle,

I think 433 is a little ambitious for us, but you never know what the new guy wants to do.

I'm a traditionalist... I like 4-4-2, with two wingers, two strikers, two guys in the middle, one who can flatten the opposition and one who can dazzle them with his control. And a lad at the back with a dodgy perm and a mouser.

433 seems to have too much that can go wrong if your players aren't up to it.

Good signing min, better than Rae.

Been around the block, done it all.

Other than Anderson what genuine experience do Aberdeen have now?

Langfield around 200 SPL games

Niall McGinn has played 20 international games, has played for Celtic and in England

Considine will reach around 200 SPL games this season,

Chris Clark, over 200 games

Vernon about 100 SPL games

Hayes over 100 SPL games

Flood over 100 SPL games, played for Man City, Cardiff, Middlesburgh, and Celtic

Reynolds around 200 SPL games

Hughes around 200 SPL games, around 100 games for Leicester

Sorry, I forgot about all the champs in our squad who have won things. Especially Langfield, Considine, Clark, Vernon & Hayes.

Chris Clark though. Excellent shout.

You were talking about experience, not if they were any good. What experience does Anderson have, aside from one season at Derby County? SPL experience?

It also remains to be seen if Barry Robson is any good, of course.

Maybe Robson might be available and free from injury every now and again?

I'm not happy with the signing, but totally agree with releasing Milsom.

Maybe he will. Other than a bonny free kick every once in a while, what more would he offer? He can't run, can't beat a man, can't tackle, other than foul and, i'll hazard a guess, will miss his fair share of games through injury and, more likely, suspension.

So do I

Depends on your definition of the word 'experience'. I have plenty of experience of being on an aircraft, doesn't mean I can fly the thing. Those names you mentioned, they all have 'SPL experience' but would be out of their depth if you put them in a better side and asked them to assume more responsibility or demand greater things from them.

Robson - a bit like Hartley - comes with at least a winning mentality (one would assume). I'd like to think he will extract more from his team mates than the likes of Gavin Rae or Stephen Hughes, who were very sheepish (no pun intended) whilst playing in midfield.

Not bowled over by the signing of Robson if it happens, but I'd certainly take him over either of the aforementioned players mentioned. I don't think McInnes is the type to suffer fools gladly in any case so if he doesn't cut the mustard, he'll be dropped for someone else.

starting to half wonder whether this could even be a Craig Brown pre-contract which obviously the club are keeping as quiet as possible.

does fit in with Broon's jobs for the boys signing and selection policy. Possibly Osbourne had intimated he was leaving donkeys ago and the club had had a bitty of a fallout with Milsom re choice of doctors etc and subsequent large bills and was leaving also regardless of whether he picked his form up or not....space for midfielders Brown thinks ah good old Barry will partner Rae and Hughes...
