CraigHill
Magennis is shite, cannot believe he was offered an extension, but expect it will be his last here and he'll disappear into non-league English fitba after he is released. Link to comment

fine-n-dandy
What does that have to do with Magennis being shite?Your comment regarding Magennis could be used for numerous players over that last decade at AFC but the most fitting would be Clangers for when he got his last (sympathy/laziness) contract renewal of 3 years. fine-n-dandy
Ah okay, so totally off topic then......... Back on topic, do you agree that Magennis is shite?Yes I do agree that (mostly) he is in fact shite as he is sadly lacking in the most basic skills as a footballer BUT there is something else in there somewhere amongst all that physical strength, pace & determination. I just hope that McInnes can finally winkle it out & keep it out & work on it with him. Magennis has come up with some pretty awesome touches & crosses/passes (cross at St Johnstone for one) in amongst his mostly shite play & yes you would argue that they are all lucky touches etc. but that MAY not be the case.If McInnes can find the decent side to Magennis & work on it, then we'd have a very strong sub to rely on & yes that is all he is imo even though McInnes said all his signings would be to challenge for first team places, I think he is seeing Josh as a back up player to be used sparingly. The thing to remember is that Josh will be on peanuts as a wage & some will say that he's keeping the youngsters out of the side, or preventing them getting their chance but the fact is McInnes has said he will give the youngsters their chances. So if Magennis manages to keep ANY of them out of the side, then quite frankly they must be doing pretty poorly because Magennis is first & foremost A BACK UP PLAYER. I would have been happier to have suffered 10 years of a player like Magennis than the player we had in fkn Darren Mackie. So I can tolerate poor squad players as back up for a few areas because I understand that that is just the way it HAS to be because of money but the thing I cannot tolerate is the fact that we have a fkn SQUAD PLAYER at best masquerading as our Number 1. because such an important position (arguably one of the most important) is certainly NOT somewhere that this should be the case. Hell I could even tolerate Chris Clark as one of our back up/squad players IF I believed that he was on a shitey wage like I'm pretty sure Magennis will be on but Chris Clark came to us because we offered him more than Killie offered him as a first teamer, so what ever wage he is picking up is far too much (for a squad filler). 1 1 Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
I will even add to the above by stating that I think Magennis is the perfect example of a hard grafting squad player (& one that will continue to graft & give 100% regardless of whether he's getting a game or not) that is kept on deliberately to make sure that the youngsters pushing into the side NEVER stop trying. They will see Magennis as an easy person to oust because of his "skills" but certainly not so easy to oust in terms of attitude & determination & because of this they will know they HAVE to keep grafting, or will be forgotten about. Also McInnes doesn't strike me as the kind of idiot that will persist with Magennis (regardless of form) like many of the other idiot managers did regarding Darren Mackie. He only has Magennis there because he is the perfect CHEAP squad player that will keep the youngsters pushing the fringes both on their toes & at the same time very keen because they will see a very good chance of ousting him. Clangers is (in my mind) our weakest link & he MUST be replaced & if this happens. Well then & only then will I shift my attentions to the next weakest link in the team. Chrissy Clark will likely take that, as he will be on too high a wage as a squad player. I don't mind squad fillers on peanuts because that is just the way the game has to be now. Link to comment
