Summer Signings Confirmed

Recommended Posts

Positive 1st signing.... and glad it's his name we heard and not Robson's as I think that would have met with plenty of meh's all round.

Robson perhaps has one good season left in him, and if he is keen on coming, I certainly hope he doesn't just see it as a good way to be close to his family whilst picking up the wages (a la Gavin Rae).

We've got our box-to-box midfielder sorted... now a striker, winger, two full backs and a keeper please Derek, in the same calibre as Flood (or better).

I wonder his wage at the minkers & how much its improved to come to Aberdeen?

0. Apparently would have had to take massive pay cut to stay at United as they slash wages and Aberdeen offered him same wage as was on there to come here. Double delight is that United may struggle big time next season as half their team is leaving!!

Quite pleased with this signing, from what I've been reading elsewhere he sounds exactly the type of player we've been missing. Decent engine, will run all day and breaks things up. Also its got the jutes nickers twisted which is a bonny bonus.

(not a dig, kinda sounds like one) Where do you get your info when it comes to this type of stuff K9?

Dont need names, just a general... someone in the club, an agent etc.

A united fan I know told me same story as K9 related and other united fans say the same.

The jutes are going ape shit. Excellent.

All the best Willo.

Are you suggesting Rae didn't give 100% of his capabilities?

That's harsh on Rae TWL.

I saw nothing but honest commitment from a player turning out for the team he supports.

He just ran out of petrol.

The information I received, which I posted about earlier in the week, suggested that Robson would be earning peanuts, while Flood would be drawing a massive wedge.

Quite interested to hear if the other name I heard about comes off...

You might as well say.

You don't have to reveal a source.

Spill...

Well, if that's someone playing their heart out for their home side, then god help those not of an Aberdeen affiliation.

Looked tidy enough, but sod all blood, sweat and tears. Look at someone like Brian Irvine for commitment, drive and enthusiasm. That's the trouble with most players to pull on a red shirt in recent years - next to no passion for the club. Going through the motions.

An interesting signing

Have to say when we played Dundee united if he played they played.

That said there were games that he didn't really show either.

If he is good AND consistent great

if he is good and not consistent then an ok player

Overall though if there was a player than we could realistically have got from Dundee united to improve us - then it is him

I'm old enough to say you ain't seen more than me and to slag a player off who

was simply running out of gas is a bit unfair.

And trust me, Ollie knows his stuff.

I'm not denying both of you know a bit about football. But if either of you think he had a good season, then you're aff yer tits. Why you think McInnes binned him?

Edit: Running out of gas doesn't mean you don't run yourself into the ground and show 100% commitment does it. Lacked passion and drive. Chirst, young Low showed more enthusiasm for AFC in his last performance, than Rae did all season.

If Rae hadn't had to carry another individual so many times there would be no criticism.

It could be that McInnes binned Rae because he is on the point of signing Robson - a very similar player who may be prepared to take peanuts in wages.

If Rae was on decent money that's a shrewd move by McInnes - replace like for like on less wages.

Or perhaps it's cause Rae was distinctly average?

Classic

Based on your assessment of Rae as a player, I'd rate your football knowledge in the lower quartile Ollie my old mucka. Quite staggering how anyone can praise him after being the mainstay of a side that failed miserably. He showed zero passion and desire for AFC.... his home town club.

Point me to where I praised him for the season he had.

To say that Gavin Rae was NOT a good player is, as I say, garbage. You don't achieve what he did without being a good player. Did he have a good season? No. To say he didn't give 100% is pish. Ill informed pish.

And your "i've forgotten more about football" statement says more about you than it does about me.

You are defending Rae with regard to him having had a 'good' season for us. Either that, or your comment in ill informed (which doesn't add up anyway seeing as they are more own 'formed' opinions), is random at best.

If you really feel Gavin Rae gave his all for Aberdeen last season, then you're stark raving mad. I want to see Aberdeen players give 100%, like their lives depended on it. Ozzy, Anderson, McGinn, Considine, Jack, Low, Reynolds perhaps - about the only players I feel who come out firing on all cylinders. In that sense, if we are to sign Robson, I hope he comes in his Caley or Celtic mode, and not in the MacNamara/Hughes/Rae mode of seeing out the end of their playing days with the luxury that they were afforded (until such time as being released or let go).

In your defence, I thought you were the young lad who posts on here and didn't realise you were the father of the loon who plays for our youth team. That said, I still think you're miles off with your opinion on Rae, who I admit was once a good player, but a shadow of his former self in a red shirt. Whether that was a lack of high enough targets being set by Brown, or a lack of his own get up and go, I have no idea. But disappoint he most certainly did.

i was listening to sportsound today and everyone on there reckons we have got a really good player in Flood, Houston stating that he had numerous set-to's with him because he used to take teamamets to task that he felt were'nt giving thier all, if thats the case then that is somethng i would be happy to see continue.
